[Original] Element of Loyalty [Filthy Dubstep]

Postby Eros » 12 Oct 2012 15:22

I'd just like to introduce myself, I'm Eros my dream is to become the next big Brony Dubstep producer out there.
This is one of my older songs but It's still one of my favorite songs I've worked on.
I'm currently working on a song IMPO is about 30x better than this one. :D

Enjoy.

Hello, welcome, hertzlich willkommen and all that jazz.
The melody in the intro and verse is very pretty and catchy and sets a very nice chill mood for the track.
However the drop takes me out of it due to the change in tone and character of the song.
You've got some okay synths playing but they would work a lot better if they were playing a catchy melody. Writing catchy and memorable drops is very important for one with goals such as you!

Keep working on sound design, arrangement and melody and you'll definitely improve a lot!

Good luck trying to be the next big brony producer  I'm sure that you aren't the only one who has this goal in mind. The biggest ones out there right now (Alex S, Toaster, Tombstone, Omnipony, you name it) have been producing for YEARS upon years. Alex S himself has been producing for around 6 years, probably around 7 by now. They all have a really good understanding of synthesizer design and music theory. And they have the advanced hardware that really gives them an advantage (monitors, midi keyboards and controllers, etc...)

So.

As stated above, Good luck. You're going to need it.

Then perhaps you have a better shot at becoming one of the next big brony producers out there. Now, from my experience in knowing other musicians and producers, I'm guessing that you've been taking instrument lessons for quite some time previously? Because from what it sounds like, a lot of what you have to work on is mostly the stuff that everybody has troubles with: Mastering, and a bit of synth design (mostly around your drops, but even those are really good). You seem to know your synths very well, so I'm guessing that you've had experience with the synth you're using as well. So tell us. How long have you been doing music in general, and if you want to be more specific, how long have you had practice with your synth?

I've bean working with FL studio for about a year now and I've nerver taken any lessons for anyone ever. I teach myself how to make music, Is that normal?

I've only seen probably 9 tutorials on how to use synths such as Massive or Hamour. hehe

My mom calls me a "Protegee" because she liked one my piano songs I made in the first week of using fl_studio 10. This is the song I made, just have to upload it. I never really finished it :3

edit: The piano melody is not a song but just a simple tune.

Teaching yourself music is quite a feat. And you didn't learn music theory or anything ever either? Now that's talent. The only thing left for you is to get your name out there. :)

And watching that little amount of tutorial videos for your synths isn't uncommon, since not very many people actually post helpful tutorials for synths xD

Even though music theory is good and all, it is just all in theory. The absolute best way to learn music is to make/play it. Its like learning a language: You can teach "your" is possessive and "you're" is short for "you are" but in the end, when you're speaking no one will be able to tell the difference.

I will say now listening to True Love, Eros your tracks is almost on par with the professional dubstep producers. All you need now is some exposure. I'm no big time DJ, but a lot of my friends love dubstep. I'll throw some of your tracks in there and they'll get talking to others, who'll hopefully get talking to others. I suck when it comes to socializing otherwise I'd help promote ya but for the time being, I guess just try to get involved with bronycons if you haven't already.
