First time actually trying <original> <pony>

Postby AJHunter » 01 Sep 2012 08:56

I'm pretty new to actually producing music, and this is my first attempt at actually using samples that didn't come with LMMS.

This uses clips taken from Left 4 Dead 2 and FiM. Please tell me what I could have done better and what was done well, as I'm always looking to improve.

I'm sorry to be this harsh, but looping voice and hit samples doesn't count as music.
Try making something with notes next time?

In a world where I can play the piano, it figures I wouldn't have fingers...
Thank you all for the 123 followers on Soundcloud. I really appreciate it.

Geez, I have to agree with Acrylia, I assume you were using gunshots instead of a kick, but because of that and the lack of any melody or chords, this sounds poor. a song should take you a good amount of time not only piecing the song together but also adding effects and equalizing.

Ah, yeah... Notes honestly never crossed my mind while making this... I'll try and figure out something that'll sound good in this (as well as lengthen it a bit) tomorrow.

EDIT: I've scrapped that set that aside, and, while dicking around in a different DAW, made this little doodle, this time making sure to remember to put in a melody and whatnot.

Music needs notes? That's just being closed minded. AJHunter is simply thinking outside the square. Sure it's not a very good sounding song, but that doesn't stop it from being art. I was so inspired by this, that I created a remix of it:

But actually I do agree with Acrylia and DannyMirage. You should try learning musical theory, it really helps. Unless you're making troll remixes, that is (and you shouldn't be making troll remixes because they aren't actually amusing or clever in any way).
