<non-pony> <demo> FL STUDIO DRUMS DON'T SUCK

I swear, every forum I got to that has something to do with audio/music production, there's always someone bitching about FL Studio's default drums, and the stuff that comes with the program. So in order to prove them wrong, I put together a 20 second long sample thing.

http://soundcloud.com/acrylia/fl-studio-10-drums-test

All the drums and the barely audible bass come from default sounds and VSTs on FL Studio. The snare, cymbals and toms come from FPC, and the kick you can find under Packs-Legacy-RealDrumkits-Kick2. The bass comes from BooBass, and I recorded the guitar to FL in like three minutes.

It's true, the drums still sound pretty bad and unrealistic, but come on; with a little mastering and effects they sound a bajillion times better than they do raw. And literally, all I did was set up 4 different FPCs (one for Snare, one for Toms, one for Hi-Hat, and one for Cymbals), put em through Fruity Parametric EQ or Multiband Compressor, adjust volume levels, add some reverb, and put Soundgoodizer on the kick and snare. That's it.

...

Really I don't know what this is to prove... anyway I enjoyed making this.

I think when they said "default drums", they meant these ones. http://gyazo.com/d3c9e4e83552894668071bef0e0b59aa

You know, the ones that are there when you open a project?

Not only those. Many people also tag in that all the samples that FL comes with are crap, and for the most part, they're right. I'm just saying with a little tweaking they don't suck as bad.

Yeah I can enjoy the default drums when they're processed right.

Sound design know-how > quality of initial sounds

A lot of people tend to forget that there's having good tools and then there's knowing how to use them, someone who really has a mastery of working with their tools will always sound better than someone with no clue and tools more powerful than they know what to do with.

You obviously can't polish shit, but you can make a muddy rock shiny if you know how to clean it.
