<non pony><original><wip> First song

Postby Baggers » 03 Jul 2012 14:26

First of all I'd like to introduce myself, hello my name is Glenn or Baggers which ever floats your boat and I've decided to take up making music in my spare time, so here is the result of my first instrumental track:

So I came here hoping to learn some new things and improve myself, I'd appreciate all the help I can get, that goes for constructive criticism as well.

Welcome to the forum!

Wow, I wish my first song could be anywhere close to this haha.
However, this is very repetitive, it doesn't really change until 3:28.
That synth you used at 3:38 makes the whole track sound muddy, so you may want to remix that part.

For a first track though this is a really good start. keep it up :D

Yeah, there's a lot of mixing issues in it. Having no sidechaining done is also hurting it, which is very audible throughout the entire piece.

Besides being repetitive, it's good for a first track for sure. In fact, if it really is your first and you didn't use any presets - wow.

Endnote: use your tags accurately. I can't find anything "pony" about it.

Thanks a lot I'll see right to that synth and as for the progression, well progression in elctronic music isn't really my forte but I will try my best to fix that.

Yeah the mixing is something I'm going to have to look into a lot, having little to no experience in that area. As for presets the percussion and violin were the only presets although there were 1 or 2 preset synths that were changed slightly.
Thank you very much for the help

Edit: I wasn't too sure about the tags, I was planning on it being pony related but I might just keep it non pony for now and keep this as a practice track perhaps.
