So for this cover im working on, should I keep the grounding buzz or not?

I kinda like how it makes it feel more warm and live, but is it too distracting?

Hmmm, it doesn't seem too distracting. Its fine with it but I would have to hear a version without it to make a proper decision.

Sounds like you have improper gain structure. Something was turned up too loud. I'd fiddle with it and find out where it's too loud and turn it down. You can always increase the gain on the output if it's too quiet. I'd make a new version without it just because you never know when you're gunna want a professional quality to show to a label or a future employer.

I'm pretty sure its not a gain issue. I recorded it at very low volume, like, 16dB away from clipping, and then amplified it after i finished mastering. the buzz is coming from a bad outlet that my mixerboard is plugged into. i can wiggle it and this is as quiet as it gets. i can do a simple noise removal, but i kinda liked how it sounds. but imma go with the majority and get rid of it.

Well its the amplifying after the master that did it. you should turn up the volume on the guitar amp and the mic preamp before the mixer and keep the mixer down low. also think about running an extension cord from a good outlet to the board.

you want the signal from the vocals and instruments to be way louder than the source of the buzz. If the mixer is the cause, then the pre gain should be high and the faders should be low. feel me?
