<Pony><Original> Remain

First track with vocals. Yay!

I originally intended for this to be a BP track, but like usual, it unfolded into something else entirely.

Lyrics:
(Intro/Verse 1)
Come with me to a place,
where emptiness surrounds the essence
of what we started and where we’re now.
Lost and forgotten, a disharmony.

(Verse 2)
Ask yourself now why you are here?
We’re still going strong. The end isn’t near.
I serve as a messenger, but heed this if you must
It’s only if you’re unaware that it will come to pass.

(Chorus)
We will strive onward
and we will persevere
for we bear the true meanings of
love and tolerance
and if we ever decide to go our separate ways
we’ll look back at this time and then we’ll smile.

(Bridge)
There was a time when we agreed.
There was a time when we could stand eachother.
An everlasting friendship, forged by ourselves,
bringing hope and vision to a darkened world.
But we found a way to fight ourselves.
But we found a way to fight everyone.
A brief endearing moment, forgotten,
like a summer’s breeze, blowing by.
You thought it was the fault of the cloppers.
You thought it was the fault of the furries.
You thought it was the fault of everyone else,
but did you stop and think that it was the fault of ourselves?

(Chorus)

The hats, cymbals and snare are all really bright but they are too far infront of the mix. The kick easily slips behind everything else (:32, 1:16) which in my opinion is never good. Try mixing around the kick by first soloing the kick and slowy bring in every sound, slowly, one at a time in order of importance to the track. The vocoding is good and the lyrics work great with the tone of the track, they vocals may be a little behind the mix.

Great track.

Man 4th, I can always count on you on finding the tiniest details to make my tracks better.

I'll see if I can side-chain my kick to help bring it out a bit more, without giving the track a pumping effect.

*Edit*
Yeah side-chaining wasn't able to do it without generating a pumping effect. Double checked all the EQs, and nothing was conflicting with the main punch of the kick, nor the higher frequencies.

I'm relatively stumped, but I was able to bring out the kick slightly more by side-chaining it a very slight amount to the trancy synth that plays for the heavier part at the beginning.

I also lowered the amount of expansion on the hi-hats and cymbals, and panned them a little off-center.

Even a small amount of sidechaing can make a huge diffrence (before the pump effect), you can also look into getting a transient shaping vst to bring out that kick just a little more. Nothing maybe be conflicting with the kick but cutting away more frequencies couldn't hurt. I don't know how you sidechain your tracks, I use a little tick sound that lasts for about .01 seconds. That tick gives me a very quick sidechain or a long one if I turn the gain up, maybe try experimenting with diffrent samples.

Thats all I got.

I GET IT NOW

Up till now, the sound of your music was a bit too esoteric to me, for lack of a better word. But the lyrics for this one really help paint the picture for me. While relatively minimal, it gives my mind that extra push into the world created by your instrumental composition. And I'm not gonna lie, it's kinda scary in there. Good show, sir.

My goal with music is to get listeners to feel the same kinds of emotions that inspire each track. Your comment helps me know I'm at least on the right track.

The final upload is complete. A few pitch corrections, and hopefully a little more punch to the bass drum, but overall not too different.

Well, I've always been able to see the emotion in your tracks (because there's a heck of a lot of it), I just haven't seen it so channeled before this, if that makes any sense whatsoever.

It's safe to say that you put a lot of yourself into this music, no?
