<WIP><Balloon Party><Metalcore> Inspiration Is Magic

Postby Metal Core Pony » 03 May 2012 16:28

Been working on this track for a few weeks now. Recently got myself a new audio interface this weekend, so I thought I'd finally record the guitars for my Balloon Party song. Plus I also bought a drumming software from Native Instruments that I wanted to try out.

I'd really appreciate it if you all could take a listen and give me some feedback on how it sounds. It'll help me to improve if necessary.

Right now there's no bass, but I'll add that in this weekend. Never really worked with synthesizers before, so let me know how those sound as well.

I didn't even know I could enjoy this type of music.

Until now.

Cool work. I'd offer advice, but I'm not really qualified for this type of music :P

Okay, now, perhaps a suggestion, I'm not really qualified to critique any type of music, but hear me out on this one.

I noticed in parts where you had your kick drums going, the whole thing started to sound pretty choppy. My suggestion, is to perhaps EQ your kicks and cut out the higher frequencies, as well as EQ'ing your riff and try to promote mid-high tones.

Other than that, it sounds good.

Dem breakdowns. :D

Everything sounds pretty good to me. Bass will definitely add some more "oomph" to this. Guitar tone is spot on for metalcore. Synths are ok, they help add some higher-range tones to the track. I don't know very much about EQing to give solid advice there. Overall, nice work.

Which drum software are you using?

Well I'm glad you enjoyed my music. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside knowing that just about anyone can like metal music. :D

Thanks for the advice! I EQd my bass kicks and now they sound so much better! :D

Glad to know that my breakdowns are also enjoyable. Hopefully this song will make people head bang HARD!

The drumming software i use is Native Instruments Studio Drummer. All I do is just mess around with the settings a bit for the drums in order to get the sound that I like.

From 1:20 on forward it would be cool if the guitar would play some variations/soloish licks and step a little bit away from the pure power chords. Of course this would mean to redo the recording of the guitar at least some parts of it. :?
