Reccomendations

Postby Romdeaux » 01 May 2012 20:30

SI usually listen to music from the likes of... Jackle.. Mindset..swagberd, pinkiepieswear, NACP, Mic, the living tombstone, the occasional Sci...
Anyway, im looking for some specific stuff.

Mostly:
-More chillout music, relaxing house, ect. (a la mindset)

-More Drum n Bass. MUCH more.

-And some more vocal play, like the stuff in CopyCat's Capturing Winter in C Sharp

=w= Thankoo~

And I certainly will, -not too fond of Alex S's music- but I really dont think I've gotten a big enough bit of omnivore to doubt him yet. xD

For Drum n' Bass, Princess Addictia. He mainly does liquid, but it's DnB, so yeah.

Hopefully. Unfortunately, I lack the electronic music Program, VST's, unidirectional USB Microphone, and Midi controller-to-Pc interface plug to make my music properly. xD

Still workin on getting a job.... ;w;

/Shameless self-post.

There's quote a bit of relaxing stuff on my channel, and some chaotic stuff if you're into that kind of thing. A little electronic music too.

Hokay.

I've heard Fruity loops is pretty easy to handle. I never could get much hang of ableton.
Do you know of anything that's got the same basic functionality, but maybe a little more...easy for your parents? xD Complexity doesnt go well for me, all i do really is write out midi stuff and layer it on top of each other. maybe the occasional fade/reverb/etc.

And I sahll check out f3nning.

FL Studio is pretty darn good imo, don't listen to anyone saying that it is crap - talking about whole program, not its included vst's. And i can't think of anything more simple than FL so.. :P

Chill stuff? not sure what exactly you mean, but maybe something like what i made yesterday?

Have you listened to any of The Living Tombstone's stuff?
What he does has never been "my type of music", but he does it so well that I can't help but love his songs.

I also recommend Excision if you like heavy dubstep. They're my #1 source for it.

As far as making music, you could try out LMMS. It's not great... It's not even good... but it's something.
(Something *free* that is.)

You can see an "example" of LMMS work on my Soundcloud:
soundcloud.com/alicornbob/night-raid-wip

It's mostly using the feature on the program that lets you load sound files into the plugin.
I'm not sure what formats the plugin supports. I've just been using .wav files (less than 30 seconds in length) that I recorded/edited on Audacity.

It has a bit of a problem playing short notes with some of the sounds and pre-loaded synths (if I could call them that).

I mostly fix this by using the lines that give me trouble in a different project at half bpm, then play it double speed while recording in Audacity (input taken directly from the sound card).
Then I just export both tracks in Audacity.

Audacity is going to need a plugin to export mp3, but it's pretty easy to install and usually needs no extra work past installation.

*I do wish I had a piano, though. I just seem to be able to let music flow when I'm sitting at a piano.

You can use the http://bronymusiciandirectory.blogspot.com/ to find particular genres through searches on the top left. In this case i searched "drum" and got these results which have some of the obvious. Obviously someone has to have mentions of a genre to have it listed under their profile but that'll at least be a good tool to use in the future.

Chillout I'd recommend Voodoopony (for sure), Taiksip, Orschmann, Glitchhog, F3nning,.... likely forgetting a few. You've already listened to PPS.

This chill house mix by 4th impulse is great.
