So, after a few weeks messing around with my DAW (Reaper) I finally decided to do something in full. I wanted to go for a full length song, but, I kept getting lost along the way since I didn't really know what I was doing. xD
So, I decided to take a stab at remixing a song instead. I figured since the ground work was already there for me, it would give me the opportunity to experiment with Reaper, play a song in full, and actually get something done.
So, I chose a song that I've always loved from the show, I knew would be easy to play (I am also learning the piano at the moment, so I didn't want to launch into something too complex), and wasn't too long. "Hush Now, Quiet Now" was my first choice, and I am glad I picked it (looking at sheet music for something like "Smile, Smile, Smile" almost gave me a heart attack xD).
So, here it is! I'm quite nervous letting my first remix out into the wild like this, but, any advice and critique you have would be much appreciated. I am really new to music production, and I would love to hear how I could not only improve this remix but also tips for getting started with writing music (I really have no clue where to begin with that) and some more of the technical stuff (for instance, mastering and EQing... what are they?).
