<Pony><DJ Mix> A DJ mix to listen and critque

Postby the4thImpulse » 17 Mar 2012 14:16

Hello, as some of you may know I wrote that djing article and heres a mix to go with it, its all popular pony songs you likely have heard before.

I kinda threw it all together in a day and recorded it so its not perfect and pony music is diffrent to mix with compared to real world music. I know I am one beat off at the transition around 18:42 but other then that I though it was a decent mix, tell me what you think and its up for download!

Enjoy :D

Overall this is a good mix. Pony Dubstep isn't terribly easy to mix as there is RARELY intros and outros. I like how you avoid the easy mixpoints but some changes are a little too abrupt (6:00,14:40,17:00,18:21). But a good track selection of some big tunes, some different mixes of tracks, and high energy through most of it gave this a decent flow. Do be careful on key changes because if both tracks synths are still going and there's a key difference it will sound off. :)

Thank you, it felt weird mixing this music without regular intros and outros to work with so some transitions were just a hard crossfader slam unfortunatly, but I wanted to get something out there and this will work.

agreed. i haven't done a mix since my first 3 and those came out good overall but I had a few rough transitions here and there too. i'm sure if all we did were mixes continually it would be better practice and we'd get better results but there just isn't a big demand for pony dj's to be frank (although Tei the Pony has done a better job of balancing djing and remixing then anyone and getting recognized for both)

I agree that some transitions were a tad rough, but I liked this overall. But then again, I didn't actually know what a DJ did until I looked at your guide recently. XD
