Yeah guys you got that right,
Extra Dimension Records is back for their second compilation project, which we have given the following name:
Grid Of Grit! This time around, the theme is hard, crunchy, gritty music. Example genres you could send in are Industrial Hardcore, Splittercore, Noise, harsh kinds of Ambient, Schranz and Grind/Cybergrind, but whatever you make, no matter if it's not one of the example genres, we want it to be crunchy. Most importantly we want it to be new and innovative. Unique. Abstract. Think of something.
And next to that, we've decided to extend this project with a cover art contest! How cool is that?
If you win at the cover art, we will probably ask you to help us constructing the J-card for the cassette.
Music submission rules. - Your track may be as long as you think fits the track, but we want it to be over 2 minutes.
- Your track has to fit the theme of hard, crunchy, gritty.
Cover art submission rules. - Your cover art has to fit the theme of this album, it has to be square, and it should be 700x700 or bigger.
- We'd like the ExDim logo to be present on the cover art somewhere. I can give you the .psd file of our logo, you just PM me or say you wanna make a cover art below.
The deadline.September 15th 23:59 / 11:59 PM, GMT+2 is the deadline.
We are relatively flexible because, well, time-zones, but anything sent in -after- this day will be ignored for the compilation.
The judging. It's not that much of a big deal. The ExDim team, which is Pyre, Zovi, 3ternal and me, will discuss all tracks and cover arts sent in, and decide if they fit the compilation and aren't horrendous in quality.
Uploading and submitting. All submissions should be sent to
[email protected]. The music should be in WAV or FLAC (the latter is much preferred), and the cover arts in PNG. Preferably uploaded to MediaFire, Box or MEGA.
You are free to post your track on Soundcloud, or YouTube, or whatever service you use, but please refrain from enabling free downloads. When the deadline's out, and you're not on, you can enable downloads. When the album's released and you're on, you can link to the album page.
You're also free to share your cover art in this thread :)
FAQQ:
What if my entry sucks?A: We don't particularly mind. Once again, this is all for good fun. If you really think your track is that bad, send it to the other participants in the Skype group chat; we're sure there'll be someone there that wants to give you some kind of helpful feedback.
Q:
Can I work with X and/or Y?A: Collabs are of course accepted! Go ahead and ask your friend to make this track with you. You won't get extra 'points' for collabing, but you'll certainly make us happy.
Q:
How many tracks can I submit?A: Use common sense.
We allow you to send as many tracks as you want, but remember:
quality goes over quantity. Even in this case.
Be reasonable. It's better to work on 1 (or a few) track(s) for the coming months, than to shit out 3 tracks per week you got.
Q:
Can I make a remix?A: We just want to ask you to ask for permission from the original producer if you can make the remix. If they don't mind, we don't mind.
Q:
What's to say about the mastering?A: With our previous compilation project, we've had big issues concerning mastering. To make sure that doesn't happen again and we don't end up losing lots of valuable time, you could just master your own tracks (ONLY IF YOU FEEL A HIGH NEED TO). That way it's more you. That said, mastering is
not necessary.
Q:
What about pony/non-pony?A: If you wanna go through the effort to make it pony, if you feel it's really necessary, go for it then. Our previous compilation had one pony track as well. Do know this is not a brony-only album, so choose for yourself whether it'd be good to make it pony or not.
Don't be discouraged to work on this if you have zero experience. It doesn't matter :)
I hope that this covers all information necessary. If you want to know something, go ahead and ask.
PS: if you want to be added to the Skype group chat, add me or another team member and ask for it (my name is GlitchHero9724). If I'm online, it won't take long. In there you could discuss what you're working on and maybe get some feedback or something.
Also, if you add me, please, pleeaaase, use your contact request message to explain who you are so I know what you want. I dislike wasting time.
