When you make music that like bops from one sound to another, its often better to just play mostly the same note over and over. you're changing the sound, so the listeners need something to connect the previous note to the current one. That goes for sound design too, try to have more sounds that have less harmonic (Think more triangle wave rather than like a saw wave), so it makes up for the rich ones, that will sound more noisy.
