That's NAADC. I said NORAD ;3;

Do you agree we should do MLR-wide meet-ups? Perhaps per continent to prevent super-expensive transatlantic travel?

My action is, I don't get any. (hoho!)

What's the most harrowing part of the songwriting process? Or if nothing about songwriting harrows you, what's the most harrowing part of the [insert art medium here] creation process?
Notebook Memories, the debut album from yours truly, is currently up on my bandcamp for free. Any feedback, encouragement, hate mail, etc. is highly appreciated! Even just listening is pretty cool of you tbh.

I find kit hard to visualise chords and melodies and stuff before I made them. I usually just fumble around with notes for a while and then try to add some more notes in chords fitting those. Once I have that down I can start work on the fun stuff, like adding cool synths and drumms amd stuff.

I noticed many words chorespond to sight, but few to sound. Like let me show you this thing I drew. But is there anything wordt yyou can use to 'show' someone sounds?

also, should this be posted in the discussion thread..?

I was under the impression that "show" also applied to sound, based on how often people say "hey let me show you this song I made!"

Well... grammatically it's probably correct to say you "show" someone your music, just cause there is no better word for it... But still, show still implies you see something, which you don't. You hear it.
Show works fine. Still annoys me how there is no accurate verb (that I know of) describing the action of playing, singing, or in any other way sharing your music with someone else.

I can't be bothered asking a question?

I'm trying my best to stay neutral about the fact that I can't wake up to an alarm clock properly. I'm always wake-dreaming when it goes off (so before the alarm I'd have woken up, still dreaming) and then I can snooze my alarm for an hour without noticing, without any time realizing I'm awake. It's just like when I'm reading in bed at night. When I somehow close my eyes for a few seconds, I open them a minute later and almost got myself to fall asleep with my PSP. I can only get out of wake-dreams by outside interruptions, be it pigeons outside or my dad walking over to my room to wake me up (and nothing else really). It's annoying that I'm independent on outside influence to wake up not-too-late. The only good thing about this: many dreams are awesome!
And when I don't, I'm just in a half-sleep-half-awake state how does this even work how can I even explain.

Yeah. So, is that weird?

(EDIT - holy fuck that paragraph)

It's definitely uncommon, but I have heard of that kind of thing before, so it's not just you. Have you considered putting your alarm clock in a place in the room where you can't reach it from your bed? That way, you'll have to get out of bed, which is more likely to get you out of that state.

Now for a question...
How did you get through the worst point in your life so far? (Das right, I'm bringing out the deep questions)

These are the kind of questions I want, yeeeaaa!
Ahem.

I'll skip the details, both to save time and to save my mood, but I've had two black-outs in my life, and I got out of it by listening to music. Same goes for deep unrest, heavy emotional strokes, I just lock myself down for a moment and focus in the Drone Ambient or Chillstep (the two genres I always use in these kinda scenarios).

Have you ever used music to heal yourself of something, or aqcuire a particularly weird/awesome feeling?

Actually I did that just two or so hours ago. I was walking home from the subway after a movie night at a friends house. Being a bit sick I had a headache, and because of my genneral distrust of people roaming the streets at such a late hour I needed something to gain control of my physical and mental discomforts. Thuss I put on Cruel Hole by Venetian Snares. The discomforts where then replaced with dark thoughts of discord and mischievousness, like I could stumble across a child molester and ask to join in only to slowly strangle the perpetrator... I love that feeling.

Is it weird that I couldn't think of any dark points in my life to answer Evdogs question two posts ago?

Nah, you shouldn't expect of yourself to always remember that which you know you know.

That which you are thinking about right this moment, how would that benefit someone else?
(I'm gonna start doing random questions.)

That wasn't quite what I meant... I meant I don't think I have had any of those... no wait... yes I have... silly me.
I don't really know how that would help anyone, so here's something else that might be helpful that I thought about:
Just a few minutes ago I was skype chatting with a colabpartner and was all like "Grahhh! Mixing hard mixes is HARD!!! Especially this thing!" He asked how to do that specific thing that I was complaining about being hard. I proceded to write three lines explaining what I would do in a situation like that, and why mixing is hard, and then I noticed I just wrote down the solution to my problem.
Moral of the story: If it's hard, complain to your friends.

Dose that help you?

BISHMILA!!! NO! We are not gonna recite those lyrics.

Is there a cultural event you know of when people get together and sing songs with rewritten lyrics about drinking and take shots? Or anything similar? Or are Swedes just that Swedish?

Well... There's a similar thing that people do where they get together and eventually after a while of doing stuff they start singing random songs while drinking. Not sure if it's exactly a 'cultural event' or just drunk people singing and having fun.

I guess.

Well since I was a child, I've loved music, and have been a singer for as long as I remember. I actually have memories of both the first time my dad let me use a DAW (it was Cubase) and of when he was teaching me to play guitar.

I started making my own stuff (and remembering it and writing it down) at 13, which I look back upon and find really cheesy and amateurish (and I do not plan to ever release in their current states :P ). A few years later, I started learning to produce my own tracks, and tried to make tracks for OverClocked Remix (ocremix.org) but since I knew nothing about mixing, and didn't know how IRC's worked, I kept on getting forum feedback saying "Good arrangement, but you need to make it more dynamic". Nevertheless, I kept up doing songwriting and practicing (You would probably never guess, but back then I wrote a lot of Acoustic-sounding CountryPop).

It was honestly only after I found the Brony Music scene that my production abilities improved. I got harsh, but fair, criticisms and helpful tips from more advanced artists and when I compare my pre-2011 works, I say exactly the same as what was said to me "Good arrangements; Horrible mixing". There was a point, somewhere around mid-late 2012 where I was finally able to listen to my own tracks, and objectively say "Wow. This is pretty professional sounding", and that's when I knew that I wanted this to be more than a hobby.

I actually wanna ask the same question: How do you think you've progressed in music over the years?

Well, always loved music. Back when I was 5, and lived in Australia, I started taking drumming lessons. The lessons continued in Sweden, and for a long time it was just a once a week thing, and I didn't practice much outside those one hour lessons :I But when I was maybe 14 or so I started thinking it was really fun, so I played the drums at home as well. Before that point I had a real hard time improvising anything, but once I started drumming to the music I listened to it got a lot easier. So I learned to improvise on drums, and now I drum basically any time I'm home alone. Yay, practice!

At... 15... I think, I got FL, and obviously, I was crap. I still uploaded stuff, cause why the fuck not :I and they are still on my U2B channel... If I don't set them to private right now... which I might...
I really just played around a bunch, but I did learn some stuff through trial and error.
I think the most important thing I learnt is: Learning from others is ok, tutorials and advice are helpful!
Since I learnt most my bass skills without any of that it wasn't obvious :I

I don't think my style of music has changed that much since I started, just the quality, which has gone up... a lot.

This really needs it's own thread.

Where should the "How have you progressed in music over the years?" thread be tho?
