Macbook not properly detecting USB Mixer

Postby Seedling » 01 Apr 2014 07:39

Hey guys, I recently got myself a Behringer Xenyx Q1202USB as a mixer/DI because I found one pretty cheap and needed something basic quickly.
It arrived today, I've set it up and the mixer is receiving signals fine, sound comes through the monitors directly from the mixer without a problem, but my Macbook doesn't seem to recognize it.
In the Input options of the System Preferences, it picks up an Audio line-in port, but doesn't appear to be receiving any signal, and Logic detects nothing but something called 'System Setting' which isn't doing much of anything.

I'm on a Macbook Pro running OS X 10.9.2 with Logic Pro X 10.0.6. I've googled this and searched a few forums but there seems to be literally no one else with this issue. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

I'm guessing there's a driver of some sort you need to install.

There are no drivers for Mac that need to be installed.
Check that the USB/2TR TO MAIN button isn't pressed. And can you screenshot the options coming up in logic?

Yeah, I've read online, this mixer doesn't seem to need driver installs, even on Windows

USB TO MAIN isn't pressed. Actually, none of the buttons are pressed, just gotten levels, pan, gain etc. set up.

God damn it.

So I just spent a few minutes fiddling around with the USB ports, disconnecting, reconnecting, different ports etc. and after a few tries it finally decided to behave. Probably just my USB ports being erratic. Damn, I feel stupid.

Sometimes it can be OS X is being a bitch and doesn't want to detect the device properly
