I'd be so game. Everybody just agrees on a tempo and a key, we make one section of ~30 sec each and try to blend our stuff with the other ones. It'd be brilliant! One person gets to mix it all together, and stuff would be awesome.

If everybody supplies some extra lines and stuff, we could have a real giant mix that lasts for three hours, or something!

Yeeeeaaaaah I'd just have to think of a way to go at doing it since I don't think that 50 30sec fragments would work well. 1) Things like drums would change too much or we'd have to send too much files to each other, 2) the length of the eventual track would be dictated, 3) there's more to a track than just 4/8 bars of stuff. (@eery, I want to make this be different.)

It would've been easiest if everyone here just had the same DAW, as we'd be able to just use one global project file.

Maybe if we start with one communal drum kit sample type thing that you upload at the beginning with set levels that you have to use?

Mixing/mastering would at least be impossible (if wanted, not that I've ever done it) if we'd use segments.
I do suggest using FL11 would be the best solution (even though it would force me to give up on FL10), with sharing one communal project file. I think it'd work best. It'd just leave out those with Ableton or a different DAW. Maybe since there are still quite a lot of Abletonists here, we could do two similar events, only one being for FL11 users and one for Ableton users. Just speculation.

Or we'd just have to do one huge meet-up and have this project be one of the things on the list of things we should do :P

or we are just going to have to do it by midi. Everyone gets a chance to intemperate the song, and change the file to what they think sounds best. When it is all done, we can share what our mix sounds like.

im bac (hehe)

phase 1: what if everyone made 2-4 minute mini remixes of the same midi and then we put it all together for a massive mix.
then for phase 2, we take the songs and create mixes of them (like that apple live thing) where we just mash songs together.
then phase 3, vote on the best sounding ones to mix into a shorter mix, like a hanful of songs into a 3-5 minute mix.
the phase 4, release the songs yo

That'd take away the collab part, but it's certainly not unappealing.

Soooooo, the secret girlfriend of my irl brony friend (who I've been in a class with for 5 years) is going to attend the CCL.
She seems to be very, very burned out. Also a bit afraid to go there.
She seems happy that there's someone else she knows.

we could do sections where instead of if one person wanted to work on a song segment, people could collab on a piece of the music. that would at least allow for the collabs. then we could have people being individual if they want to and working together if they want to. And really in the end, we are all working together anyway. :)

other news, i had a "discussion" with my parents last night about how I feel. even though I didnt get to say everything I rally wish I wanted to say, I did get to say some of the things I wanted to say about how I feel. and it was a tough one for me, but in the end, it might have done some more positive than the usual negative.

One thing a bunch of us did on another forum I used to frequent was this:

-A forum member volunteers to initiate a tune.
-They select a tempo and key, and produce one track, be it vocal, instrument, drum section, whatever. They put this track on the main thread in wav form.
-Other forum members that wish to participate each produce one more track, and submit it to the lead on that tune, in wav form.
-The lead forum member arranges the tracks, adding their own as necessary to fill out the final track. They have full autonomy on the track's form. The only restriction is that they must use every submitted track.
-When the final tune is completed, name nominations are submitted and voted on.

The tunes that resulted were always really... interesting. Actually, they were quite good, with the nature of their creation taken into account. Our stuff was always more experimental sounding because our frequent contributors made Trance (me), Rockatronic/Nu-Metal? (Actually this guy was all over the place in terms of stuff he made), Post Rock, and Glitch, with random contributions by other members of the community. The names are also really wacky, because we were all really weird experimental dudes.

We may have had a limit of like, six or seven submissions per wave, so it was usually first submit, first in.

These are the tunes we made, if you want to hear the typical result of this kinda thing:
Atom Smasher
Fourth Song (Rasta Rasta)
Haunted Neon Lights
Tea Time in Tijuana
The Progression of Moments in the Wake of the Big Bang

This whole format was really an outgrowth of the fact that one guy used Logic, I used Fruity Loops, one guy used Audacity, and one guy used, like, Garageband or something, since all of his stuff was recorded live.

I ended up watching rage till really late last night. It's basically a music video playlist in Australia they run on fridays and weekends, it's been running since 1987 and they've barely changed anything about it. It kinda feels like stepping back and watching TV as it looked when I was really young. They played a bunch of really great indy pop last night, along with some extremely British dance music (so much donk). I gotta start watching it more often, it put me onto some pretty awesome artists I never even knew of.

I played the first one and I gotta say it's a lot of fun if you have the patience to keep calm, it can easily be frustrating (From what I've seen from my friends) to keep dying and having to redo such a long part of the game.
But I gotta say it's one of the most rewarding games when you finally beat those bosses, oh the joy :D

Really? I'm under the impression that the games subforum is for forum games, and also about talking about games. I don't see why my thread needed to be merged. Furthermore, I don't understand why my thread about a specific game was merged, but Freewave's thread about L4D2 is still its' own standalone thread.

Regardless, it seems kind of counterproductive to try and shove such a huge conversation topic into one thread. If the goal is organization, wouldn't it be easier to have a thread for each game than forcing everyone to talk over each other in one thread?

2 (because 1 is long): like, he's hiding it from his friends cuz they all know her, and they keep it secret cuz she can't handle people talking about it in her current state (the state which mafe her parents decide to look up the CCL).
1: the Centre for Creative Learning (it's the CCL in Dutch too, how convenient). It's the place I go to (soon (1 week max.) fully replacing school) to learn how to be me and not encounter problems in society (for example, ways that make me able to function efficiently on normal schools). My Mental Reboot album was made for the CCL, and all money raised by it will go there.
