Those musicians who walk into a forum and are like "hey I'm new" and then place down a piece they finished recently that has 8/10 composition, 9/10 structuring, 8.5/10 sound design, 9/10 mixing and a 8/10 mastering job. Like, what? No, you said you're new. Go back and make something shitty if you want me to believe you're new.... /sigh every time I think about this, my mind wraps around how all of my composition, sound design and structure sounds very generic and uninteresting.

I had a friend who improved a bunch after I spent an hour trying to keep him from giving up music altogether and about 3 weeks later he calls me up and spends 3 hours showing off and being douchey about it.

Dubstep itself wasn't even an original genre, it developed off of combinations of other genres, as did almost every single other genre in this god damn world. Just because the dubstep doesn't focus mainly on the sub in the drop does not mean it's not dubstep, and arguing so is like complaining that a rock song that has a part where a piano plays a large part in a section of the song isn't a rock song. I can accept that you like a different style of dubstep that I do but don't be a fucking cunt about it, shithead *Glares at computer screen*

But I digress. Move along people, nothing to argue about here.

Self-entitled brony "professional musicians" who think they deserve to be treated like stars. If you're not signed by a music label and you do this in your part time, then you're just an amateur musician like the rest of us. That's 99.8% of the community.

Personal vent and bad experience here: You make pony music, I make pony music. You charge money for it and and got flown out to my brony convention and comped at every step. I do it for free and drove 40 minutes to get up here (there and back, EVERY day). I loaned my equiptment, lights, and time so others could have a great performance and I barely got a word of thanks from quite a few of them and my own set actually was negatively effected in the process. If you really feel you have to hang out in your hotel room with those who similarily flew out with you then socialize with the rest of the "smaller" local musicians and the people who attended then convention then that's pretty terrible. I see all of these pictures of the original brony conventions where you had 30-40 musicians all hanging out with each other, going to a Denny's, and those seem that they are simply a thing of the past. Hang out with your friends but don't shut others out and be anti-social ffs. (Aimed at no one in here thank god)

Probably should have saved that for the confessional but there you go....if it wasn't for some down to earth people I did hang out with then I would have had a pretty bad time. Stuff like this occurring happens throughout the community and online and its frankly unacceptable.

One thing that isn't a pet peeve of mine, oddly enough, is people saying rap isn't "real music." I dunno, I find it fun to agree with them. That being said, I do have some things people say about the genre or do that irritate me:

-People who think rap is just "talking" over a borrowed loop
-People who think rap is only for those people who can't sing
-People who think that you "have to be black" to rap. (Yes, the industry is dominated by black males, but that does not make it a prerequisite; jazz music originated from the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920's-30's and had very heavy African-American influence, do you "have to be black" to play jazz music?) That being said, I do understand that black people have a natural awesomeness bonus with their accent, and if you simply prefer that over Caucasian performances, then that makes sense to me.

(For the purpose of keeping a straight record, I am white.)

-People who say "oh rap is easy I could do that" and then drop lame rhymes like "yo I'm cool, too cool for school, I'm no fool, because I totally rule"
-People who sound more like they're coughing than beatboxing
-People who think the only good rap music has come out after 2000
-People who think the only rap music is the drugs-hoes-'n-money-Lil-Wayne-type
-People who think Eminem is the greatest rapper of all time
-People who think Eminem is the worst rapper of all time (seriously if I have to hear another argument about why Eminem is the best/sucks I'm going to kill someone)

-People who say "I don't normally like rap but I like this" (Of course you like it, it's probably actually decent, unlike your own perception of the genre)

The point is (yes I'm engaging a discussion about Dubstep) that people who like Modern Dubstep don't separate it with Dubstep. 1) It's not much to call it what it is, 2) arguments wouldn't be necessary.
Just like Techno is a form of Electronic music, but not all Electronic music is Techno.
Modern Dubstep is a form of Dubstep, but not all Dubstep is Modern Dubstep.

Ok. So, Queen. The majority of Queen's music is... Rock, right? We'd certainly all not agree on this.

How about AC/DC? I'm sure that all of us would also agree that they're rock, right?

What I can't understand now, is why it is that they're not called different genres if their music sounds so different from each other. And I don't want to suddenly have people say "Well, AC/DC is more of a hard rock and Queen is more of a somethingsomething rock" because that's like the difference between liquid dubstep and regular dubstep. In the end, it's still rock/dubstep.
