Site Feedback and News

Sports, politics, movies, videogames, questionable hobbies, photos from your family vacation, etc. Talk about stuff that isn't ponies or music. But do try to stay on topic and respectful of alternate opinions.

I got something that annoys me a bit.
The "X unread messages" thing ... I'd really like it to be more clear if I get a message, like it becomes bold or something like that, perhaps email notification (if that's an already available option, disregard this).

Also, it would be great if there would be a checkbox that allows you to subscribe to thread (get notifications when it's updated) (once again, if there is one already, disregard this - also please tell me because it's hiding for me).

Not sure if it would work with this theme but there is/was a phpbb mod that would show a random header image.

Can I request a sub forum in the general music stuff forum for all the song posts... because they kinda clog it up and posts are missed that aren't just someone posting their song...

Alright, seriously, can we get the character requirement removed? I know a way to bypass this shit, but has it worked out the way it intended to? It's causing more trouble than good.

I think something like that should stay in the music feedback threads though, but I agree in some areas of the forum it's very annoying and easy easy to bypass.

Do you think it's possible to get a forum game sub-forum.
Forum games are nice, but right now they are flooding the soap box forum, and its a little irritating when you want to discuss something else.

Circuitfry seemed to want a way to get more focus on social events, so wouldn't it be a good idea for some privileged admin/mod to make a fourth MLR community sub-forum called Social Events that only mods can post in? I had in mind that people could PM a regularly active admin/mod to make a post for them, if they got an idea. It'd also be a good place to house the MLRATW thing, I can surely call that a social event.

And next to that,

Agreed. I love me some forum games (I'd say exclude the spam thread) but they move other valuable threads (that aren't games) to Page 2 of oblivion. And vice versa. Forum games sometimes get crushed by activity of other threads, and nobody goes to a page 2.

An anarchistic post about how we should have more moderators because we got only a few moderators that are actually majorly active ;3

And I replied that Circuitfry hasn't yet moved the administrative powers to someone else since it's been said before (by Freewave for one) that he isn't coming back. I am very sure he has a reason that seems legit to him (whether it's legit to us as well or not doesn't matter in the case).

I just found out cfry's been working on complete site redesign (according to his tumblr posts) but hasn't talked to anyone after he told me he wasn't coming back a month ago. I sent him another tumblr pm since its hard to be part of a team running this site if our leader won't talk to us for 3 months and HE said a month ago it shouldn't be his blog anymore and that i/we should "take it". So in reality i have no idea whats going with the site reboot, who's in charge, and his actions or thoughts. I'm completely befuddled.

Stay tuned but I'm going forth with the fimmusic / mlr blog idea now (only thing i have direct control on besides day to day modding) and not focusing on the mlr ownership / admin since that's out of my hands completely and has been nothing but stress and worry. I've been getting mixed messages all along (as has kyoga and stars).

At this point i know Lavendar quit officially via skype awhile back so she's gone. Navron, Pinkieguy i don't ever see and Derpy Grooves won't talk with any of us currently either. So in terms of active mods its me, Stars (who is honestly trying to back away from forum ownership or regular modding duties as he's busy in rl with other musical opportunities), Kyoga, and 4th. The four of us. Enough to easily run this place but we're all just trying to hang in there in terms of a general organized direction of managing this place and for a redesign.

Could you maybe put that in the announcements sub-forum? I think it fits there.

Anyways, I believe Circuitfry knows what fire he's playing with. If he doesn't do anything, we'll just not get progress. And even though forum redesign is good (fully in favor of it), we need a leader that has the power and qualities to be a leader. We've all seen it. It's in his hands to decide what to do, I just hope he can pull his head out of the gutter (read: whatever he's working on) and shine some light on the situation. But I won't push him because I believe he can decide for himself.

Though I think that, since he's redesigning the forum as you said, he might keep the administrative powers till the redesign is complete. I guess.
Don't think anyone else can, is why.
