<non-pony><House> Sky Kingdom

Postby LutariFan » 16 Jun 2013 01:47

Hello!

I'm a pretty new musician, and I made this song called Sky KIngdom.

I feel like it could have been made better though, especially on the mixing part. :/ It was sooo hard to get the chords and the melody to mix with each other in the chorus but I think it could have been worse.

Anyway, I'd love some feedback on how I can make my next songs better, since I really do love this genre :P

Also, if you liked the song, I would really appreciate a like on YouTube or something :3

I'm really liking the reverb on that plucky synth in the beginning and the chorus in general. "Sky Kingdom" was a good name choice for this one.
That chorus clap, though, is kind of off. Once the syncopated hi-hat comes in it sound really good, but before that I would have use a shorter, more choppy clap (if you know what I mean). Also, the lead chorus synth feels like it's dipping too much with the side-chain compression. I don't know what you use in regard to DAW, but I would have either reduced the ratio (if you're using a compressor) or made the dip in volume less steep. Clear as mud, I know. :P

Overall, very nice. Your style reminds me 174UDSI. Keep up the good work!
Check out my Soundcloud and give me some feedback on my music! Please and thank you!

Thanks a lot! Yea, I probably put too high ratio on the lead. Thanks for pointing that out, now I know until next time :D

I like the noise synth used as a percussive element in the intro.

Despite the heavy sidechaining, I still feel like the kick doesn't really stand out all that much. I don't really know what you have going on in your mix, but a rule of thumb I go by is I have my kick peak out a -6dB and the leads tend not to get much louder than -8dB. This way, I can be sure nothing else is going to drown it out.

Oh for goodness' sake I asked for feedback on this thing with a louder bass drum and they said it was too loud ._. Ah well.

Thanks for the feedback!
