Wonderbolts (WIP)

Postby LunchBagMusic » 10 Dec 2011 04:45

This is the first time I've submitted something for peer review. But hey, if it works for Science, it works for me!

This is a song about the wonderbolts (duh). The piece is in its entirety, but it needs cleaning. That's where you wonderful musicians come in. Fire your critique cannons away.

[irritatedapplejack]And before y'all start complainin bout mah shoddy sound-sets-thingy, ah know they're an issue and I'll fix 'em when ah can.[/irritatedapplejack]

PS most of it's in 10/8. Count 1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-1-2 etc.

Sounded great! Really loved how much variation there was! Bravo!

Stuff to look at:

Whilst not a problem with MIDI, a few instruments would have real trouble playing some parts in real life...the cello pizz in particular rose my eyebrows on whether they could play that quickly and fluently...
But hey! It's a MIDI rendition, so it doesn't really matter...

More dynamic range! The ending and other climaxes would have sounded much better if they did a big crescendo.

The ending, it needs to be bigger, badder, more full on! To signify "We are the Wonderbolts!"

But overall a very good piece! Nice job!

You are the hero My Little Remix deserves, not the one it needs.
So we’ll hunt you. Because you can take it. Because you’re not our hero.
You’re a silent guardian of music, a watchful protector of songs.
A doctor of dissonance.

Easy scoring fix. I'll divisi them so that they can play the notes separately (I know that orchestras will never play this, but I try keep faithful to the actual constraints of the instruments).

^This in general. Sibelius doesn't generally pump up the volume enough in the crescendi/decrescendi without tweaking in the properities tab, even with "molto expressivo" selected. This is something that I just couldn't be bothered fixing before I put up a draft.
