So here is something that I just put together today. I actually like this and I would like anyone's general opinion on it. I was trying to go for something you might see or hear in a distant land, something away from the commotion of life. Maybe somewhere like Equestria or something, but say, without the ponies, just some old land in ruins maybe, somewhere around that.

So other than this sounding a little strange, I would greatly appreciate any sort of feedback, as well as maybe some tips on creating more atmosphere for this genre.

I really like it. That vibrato electric guitar sounding things is very eery, and I like how it progresses with the various sounds. While very subtle, this does have some musical elements that I think ambient musicians tend to ignore. I believe ambient music should still have some progression and musicianship, not just be a repetitive drone, and I think you have done this quite well.

One thing I always liked hearing in ambient music is certain unexpected sounds (not startling), perhaps with filter modulation, and stereo panning.

I remember with some ambient projects that I started, but never finished, I would experiment with stereo panning, as well as automating the dry/wet knob on reverb plugins. You can get some really cool spacial effects with this.
