Sup?

New track is out! Fun fact: this piece was originally made months upon months ago, but after several reworks is finally out!

Check it out and let me know what you think. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Free download if you're so inclined, too.

This is good, but is the crackling in the background intentional? If it is, it doesn't really seem to sit well in the mix, sorta sounds like it's not supposed to be there, I would removed about 2dB off of other synths with a thin EQ peak where the strongest frequency of the crackling is, as to make it feel a bit more in place. If it isn't intentional, then I can't find the source of it. There are some elements of the song that seem to compete for attention, there isn't one lead or whatnot.

Yes, the vinyl crackling is intentional. It originally started out with a much more lo-fi feel, as I think I'd been listening to a lot of Burial at the time. That's kinda the overspill of that. I'd forgotten about it in the mix, really, since I'd heard it so many times, it became invisible to me. I hope it's not too overpowering.

I tried adding other elements to the track, such as a lead, like you said, but nothing really seemed to fit very well. It's a fairly experimental piece, so I greatly appreciate the feedback!

^^^^^ Yeah, there is way too much of that crackling. One of my favorite bits of advice came from a pro at Propellerhead:
"If your average listeners picks up on [effects added in the mastering stage], you've probably over done it."
Very short and succinct.

Otherwise, there wasn't anything wrong with this track. In fact, I liked it; especially those little stutters you put in as transitions (like at 1:16).

Very nice.
