<pony><original> Distant Relatives

Here's my one-year special! It's also my track for the upcoming EP(?) Beyond Our Reach, which is pretty much a themed TLK spinoff.

We found a fanmade map of the world of FiM, and each had to pick a location and make a song based on it. I found Everfree Isle, and decided to make a self-referencing track that dips a bit into my old track Everfree. The idea was that maybe Everfree Forest, for which my older, much more chill track was made, is basically a murky reflection of the real Everfree, so I took the basic idea from my old track and made it darker, heavier, and a little spacey to suggest that maybe something put Everfree Forest there, basically lifting a patch of the Isle and putting it back down right next to Ponyville.

But eh, here 'tis. If anyone has any feedback, comments, or whatever, everything's appreciated! I've had a lot of fun this past year, and I really look forward to my second year of producing ^_^

Wow, I really like this! I saw the length and thought it would drag on and on, but I was pleasantly surprised to find myself not getting bored! You captured the Everfree feel quite nicely - the wubby bass synth (fuck yeah professional terminology) provided some imagery of muddy, swampy marshland, and the higher plucky synths and choir of something lurking in it. Perfectly, wonderfully unsettling. If you know me at all you'll know I appreciate good storytelling in music, so yeah, awesome! Also I'm totally stealing that sidechain technique you used in the beginning.

Because posting feedback without some negative critique doesn't sit right with me, I'm gonna nitpick a little here. I'm not a huge fan of the hats in the very beginning. They're very treble-y, and it's a little uncomfortable on the ears. The ambient pads around 4:30 get a little harsh when they're playing high notes, so I'd suggest lowering the velocity on those notes or maybe muffling them with some slight EQ. Aaaand that's all I got :) nice job man!
