I have to say, the transitions on this were surprisingly, and for these types of songs, that's usually my biggest complaint. They were interesting and unique, definitely different from the usual uplifter transition. The instrumentation, timing, and energy were all played out nicely throughout the entire thing. Of course, one big problem is that you have barely any melodies other than the main one you use, and although you keep the song interesting, using the same melody for 4 minutes gets very repetitive.
And about the cutoff effect, I'm guessing you're using a low-pass? If not, then it's a band pass. Switch it to band pass, regardless, make sure the pass is moderately wide, maybe about 1/6 of the entire frequency range, and start at the low frequencies and move the pass up to about 12 kHz within that time. It will cause it to sound like a dramatic sweep if it works out alright.
