<Non-pony> PAID WORK (though little) - Musical Film

Postby allabout » 11 Feb 2013 08:44

Hello there!

First a little background from me. I'm a film college student and I'm going to make a musical film for my final year project. My only problem is, is that I lack music. Unfortunatley this isn't a Pony related film (live action pony would never work) but I do like some of the content that the fandom have produced.

I need to make 2-3 songs, of which I have a melody in mind, and I need someone to create music to match the melodies I have made. Preferrably I would like the instrumentals to be orchestral as opposed to trance or electric, but whatever I can get and that can be sung along to.

Bare in mind I am only a College student and I won't be able to pay an AWFUL lot, but the last time a student in this country made a musical, it won a BAFTA award. So if this film gets made, the musician could have a good Resume/CV piece and possibly a little recognition...

I also need the instrumentals quite quickly - like within the next two weeks. Can anyone rise to the challenge?

What do you mean by orchestral? (Please, people, don't use "orchestral" as an umbrella term)
Do these have to be recorded live? Lenience on virtual instruments?
Melody genres?

I would do (or try) this (with no need to be paid, either), but this is a little vague.

Also, perhaps you could give us a sample of your melodies, to get a feel of what we're dealing with?
I'm always half-asleep, and I hate dubstep.
Also, you know that other, way more awesome Nomnom guy who shows up on EQD sometimes? THAT PERSON IS NOT ME.
We just happen to have similar pseudonyms.

Yes, like Nommy said, this is a wee bit vague. Perhaps, if you don't really know exactly what you want, give us an idea of the plot of the musical. Even from that, people here could do more. (I won't be much help, as I don't produce orchestral, but there are a lot of amazing orchestral composers on here)

I would like to present a portfolio of recent works as a sort of "audition" for being on your crew. It is my dream to compose for film, and this could be good experience. I hope you don't mind if I link a few examples. Keep in mind I'm only getting better with time.

Please reply if you are interested, because I certainly am.

Hey thanks for your replies

It doesn't have to be recorded live, as long as it sounds good :) If you wish to take a crack at this I will send you a private message and we can discuss by email :)

I'm all about the orchestral! And percussive, but it's just the same thing, only one involves a lot more hitting stuff.
Check out some of the stuff I've done:

This one is a combination of Orchestra and electronic, but it has some nice orchestra moments a little ways in:

and some percussion!

not percussion:

I've also got some electronic stuff, but I've been doing this longer. Feel free to peruse.
