<WIP><Pony><Synth Pop??>Fluttershy's Song (NEED FEEDBACK)

I'm also terrible with genres. Here I was pretty much inspired by Owl City to do this one (and I guess Jackle a bit). The melody actually started with me trying to do some Glaze-esque lead, but it turned into this. I am also proud to say this is the first thing I've ever used 100% self created synths on!

Before I lay down my rad vocals (that I won't process to hell and back), I'd like some feedback/tips on the instrumental so far, especially the mix.

Much appreciated!

Ha, so you weren't kidding bout that title. Keep it; you'll get hella views!

Listened to on my crap speakers then my headphones and that sorta confirmed something; I feel like that first synth line that comes in is way too hot for the rest of the mix (not necessarily in volume though, like the freq. dig?). I like the tone, and maybe it'l fit once you throw vocals in there, but it feels like too much for the backing stuff. Also, I think better percussion sounds in general will benefit you here. Listening through my speakers I felt like the claps didn't have a lot of snap, through headphones I notice your hats and kick are kinda wutevs too. I dunno, maybe you're going for that kind of sound (the synths make me feel like you are, but I still like a fat ass kick no matter what).

I dig the idea (except for that whole concept thing we talked about), I just think you could benefit from balancing your sounds a bit better. I'd err on the side of making this more...danceable I guess; good beats drag people in!

Yeah, I'm changing that kick for sure. I just want a little bit more low end like you said. I'll of course update it when the vocals are done. It will come together a bit more when I get those down I'm sure.

Edited the OP with an updated version. Any feedback on the mix?

This is wonderful! I can't get over how much I love that piano melody.
The only bit of constructive criticism I can give would be that the lead synth might be a little too overpowering at some points.
That could just be me though.

I get the feeling this will sound great with vocals added. Good luck with finishing it up and I hope the final version has much success!

Nah, you're probably right about that lead synth! I'm sure when I get the vocals down and EQ further, that synth will get a good treatment.

Thanks, i'm going to need the luck ;)
