Um, no. This is the least fair statement I've seen all week.

House is a lot different than speedcore. EDM has innumerable subgenres. Just because you know how to pull off one subgenre doesn't mean you're a master at another.

AND ANOTHER THING:

There's more than one non-EDM genre, by the way. Tons, in fact. From orchestral to metal to folk to country to grunge to rap to WHATEVER. Sweeping all of these under the same roof would be downright disrespectful to music.

I think you misread my post. I was saying that splitting up each and every category is pointless because we all have our genre info as the first information about us other than names. EDM and non-EDM are the two main overarching categories.

I agree with both of you. On one hand, fluffatun is right, there are countless different genres that are both traditional and electronic, and it seems a little wrong to group them all together.

On the other hand, it seems repetitive for the genre for each individual to be listed twice.

How does a system where you are listed under one genre, and then in your bio the other genres that you are slightly less proficient at are posted?

I guess I can see Nine Volt's point, and agree that I may have misread it. The EDM/non-EDM split sounds fine to me, now

Yeah, if we listed every single category that people who have submitted bios fall under, people looking for help would sorta through tons on genres in search of the one they want.

I'm going with the EDM, non-EDM split. Almost everyone I've hear back from has put themselves under either "General EDM" or listed 3 or 4 different genres. It would be overkill to have the same person listed under different categories that many times.

Well, after an hour and a bit of writing out all the BBCode its finally done. How do you guys like the new layout? I have to say the list of tutors is pretty impressive.

If you posted in this thread and aren't on the list its because your bio wasn't in the correct format, and had either too much or not enough writing. Check your inbox and follow the guidelines I sent out yesterday.

Finally, I added a link to my discography in the main post as a demo for an idea I had. Do you guys think it would be helpful if each tutor had a link to their discography, so people could see their previous work?

I like the discography link idea, gives people an idea of what kind of stuff we do.

In that case I'll be sending out more PM's with the BBCode for people to plug their discographies into. It's just too much work for me to go to search up everyone ones discog and plug it into the code.

If you want to have your discography linked send me this:

[url=http://mylittleremix.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4818&hilit=feesh][size=150]Feesh[/size][/url]

With the link between the first set of brackets set to your discography, and the text after the "[size=150]" changed to your name.

Remember to disable BBCode in your message, otherwise I'll just get the link as it'll appear in the final post, rather then what I have to type in to make it happen.

Most of my experience is with live instruments; I am still somewhat new to making electronic music. However here is my copypasta and resume stuff:

Genres: Bluegrass, Jazz, Funk, Metal, Classical, Acoustic, Reggae, Rock, some electronic.
Strengths: Music theory, Guitar (10 yrs), Bass Guitar(10 yrs), Viola(13 yrs), Violin, Improvisation.
So-so: Voice, Composition, Piano, arranging, Ableton, Audiotool, Massive, Kontakt, LASS, Cinebrass, and genre-swapping xD
Weaknesses: Sound design, mixing, finishing things, OCD, motivation, workflow, planning songs out ahead, imitation (in electronic music).
Timezone: EST
DAW:Ableton
Contact me: here (PM), Skype VLossity

I would totally trade lessons/help/encouragement with someone who is good at what I am bad/mediocre at.

Also, I love theory way too much, so I love to discuss theory, song ideas, analyze bits of scores, etc. And if it helps, Im better at non-electronic.

Genres: Piano Rock, Experimenting with more, like Electronic, other types of rock, etc.
Strengths: Bass, Drumlines, Lyrics, Single Instrument Harmonies
So-so: Ear training, concepts (it can be hard to get them into FL Studio), Singing, Music Theory
Weaknesses: Mixing, Laziness, Guitar/Guitar-like Instruments, Finding the Right Noise Quickly
DAW: FL Studio 10, Learning Reason (hopefully)
Timezone: EST -5:00
Contact me: PM, [email protected], Skype (stephen.james_brown)

I've never even tried to remix something, so I'm useless there. I also don't have my own anything, cause I'm currently fairly poor, so that tends to tie in with my laziness. I might not have anything to actually listen to (yet!) but if I'm sent a question, then I'll do my best to either answer it, or work through it with you.

Wow wish I knew about this thread before

I'm actually looking for someone to help me out with making music. Been struggling to come up with ideas since this is something I really wanna do((mostly sound engineering and making music)). I'm pretty much into EDM, Trap, Ambient, Avant Garde, Industrial, Chill Out and basically anything experimental.
