<pony><original> Crashing a Canterlot Party

Usually when I finish a track quickly, it feels good. This did not feel good. I get the feeling that making the switch to producing mostly house music is going to be like relearning how to make music at all

Clearly, I'm not very happy with this one, so I'd love some feedback. I know I botched the transitions, and that it's musically boring... Anything else to add to the laundry list?

Right from the beginning, it sounds like the drums are competing with the synths, so that could use a bit of EQ work.

2:51 almost sounds dissonant. Something's not right there. Happens again at the outro.

Kicks could be stronger at parts like 3:24 and 3:32.

Those "WHOOP" sounds (onomatopoeia > musical terms, evrytiem) seem kind of out of place; it's all bass, and then there's that. Could use some more mid-high end stuff to fill those parts out maybe? I don't know, I just feel like it needs something backing it up, if that makes sense.

That's all I got. The parts sound awesome individually for the most part, but like you said, transitions could use some work, as well the little things I mentioned.

I agree with Mag Zero that the whoop stands out too much. In itself it sounds dissonant from the rest of the song. The bass is filthy (in a good way), and the percussion compliments it nicely, but the whoop takes away from all that. Perhaps a less intrusive, more subtle treble synth would work. The whoop is a pitch change in a very sensitive area in our hearing, so a synth with no pitch change may be better as it won't sound so dissonant.

Also, why are the breakdowns so short? If you're annoyed with poor transitions, sometimes it's better to give your breakdown/buildup more time so your listeners get a feel that the track is swelling/growing.

I really just think it's needs a bit of tweaking and it'll be fine. The bass gives off a great feel and although the drum pattern sounds funky at the start, it fits nicely once the bass comes in. Those are some great foundations to build off of and compliment. It will need some filling-in around the hi-mids area; I liked the pads you used, so perhaps use it more or attempt to find a different one to use during the bass heavy parts (Because it feels like this song has two different emotions to it, maybe you could play off that?).

Just my two cents, take it with as much salt as you like. Good luck! C:
