I've decided to try this again. My original remix of this song was very poorly mixed, and I don't want to make the same mistake this time. So any mixing tips for the track would be very helpful.

I say that too much of the original track is in there. It's basically the original with your own on top of it. It makes things really messy. I'd recommend that when remixing, don't write over the original, rather do your own thing with the melody/chord prog./vocals. And maybe use snippets from the orig. too, but not the whole thing.
