<Original> <DnB> Woohoo

Postby Sinyk » 01 Jul 2012 19:28

Hi, everyone, I'm really new to this forum, so I figured I should post something I released recently to help introduce myself.

I've been working on this song on and off all week, and finally was happy enough with it to release on SoundCloud/YouTube/everywhere.

I'm happy with the way it turned out, but I think I still have a long ways to go before I'm good at making music.

Not that it doesn't sound good, because it sounds great, but it's composition sounds kind of... simple... I mean, for working on it all week...

As far as quality and stuff, it's easily better than my stuff. I wonder where you get your sounds like the drums and whatnot...?

AND WOAH, YOU'RE FROM SAN ANTONIO TX?! ME TOO! I just joined today recently too.

Thanks for the feedback. :D
I know it's really simple, I'm still a little afraid of making really complex things, but I'll definitely try better next time.

EDIT:
For the drums in this track, I used a kick that I found online, I'm actually not entirely sure where... I can't find the website in my browser history, but it's very nice.
For the snare, I used three snare samples from a KOAN Sound snare tutorial on YouTube by a guy named Audeka, and used a similar (but not exact) way of processing them.
For the hihats, I used samples from a free sample pack by a guy on YouTube called PITCHEDsenses, as well as a loop from a Danny Byrd sample pack that I sliced up with Slicex, and glitched.
And all the crashes, reversed crashes, and sweeps were from different Vengeance packs.

As for the synths, I used 3xOSC, default piano and string samples from FL Studio, Sawer, and Sylenth1.

Is it just me or are those cymbals mixed really really loud?

You're right, the cymbals are really loud.
For whatever reason my headphones are really loud, so I keep all my programs' volumes at around 1-5%, and I tend to forget that and make things unnecessarily loud.
I really need to get into the habit of putting tracks on my iPod or something with normal volume, and then making sure everything is at the right level.

I'll fix it soon and reupload it on SoundCloud. :D

I didn't think the cymbals were too loud. Then again, I was only partly paying attention. The part of me that was paying attention though the track as a whole was great, though!

In my opinion, I found the song a bit repetitive at times, and as stated before, it felt kinda simple. Though overall, I really enjoyed it, it's a beautiful piece of music :)

Thanks for the feedback. :D
I probably should've made the song a bit shorter, which I think would've helped with it feeling repetitive, but next time I'll definitely try to avoid repetitive melodies.
