Been mulling over this song for a very long time, so I decided to make some finishing touches on it and push it out, but I think some fresh ears will do me a lot of good. After referencing it to other songs, I noticed the bass was lacking so I attempted to compensate, hopefully I achieved a good balance but that's up for you to decide.

First pony related song I've done using various samples from the show, let me know what you think! :D

One more note, I don't normally think about genre when i make music, so I don't know what genre this would be, synth pop seems to fit the profile.

I like that use of samples at the beginning as if it was field recording (not upfront but more in the background). i likely would have recommended more on topic with the song (dropping the celestia - luna story sample and focusing on footage of sparkle first meeting everyone). not sure that bark and animal noises really work as samples (from find a pet ep?) in the beginning i'd ditch them. synth pop is a good tag (as good as any). its very pretty overall. i think you did a good job overall with a few things that i pointed out that could make it a little more focused. :)

but keep at it as i really like the wonderful use of melodies and some unique twists you added. would obviously like to see more.

Thanks for the critique DJ Pon-3. Yeah I kind of wanted to use more samples, and blend them into the rythm/melody, but with 52 episodes to choose from, I didn't know where to begin. Now that you mention it, I think it makes sense to focus on the first episode, and it works with the title too :D

I'll also likely take out the animal noises, they just seem to fit at the time, and I didn't bother changing them. Don't know when I'll get around to making changes, I need to take a break from listening to this song :?

I hear you! One of the toughest things when you work on a song for so long is you forget what's in there and you forget to ask yourself should this be in there. I recently did that with a track i was working on for almost 2 months. It wasn't until is showed it to a few friends and they said "why do you have this really basic synth in there" and "why are drums so simple" that i realized they were right on both of those points and i'd forgotten to re-examine the components after awhile once they had been there for so long. The singlemost thing you can and should do is have a few people that you can have listen to your wips and give input as it saves you time from realizing after you publish something. That or take a break from a track when you've had enough and re-visit when you have fresh ears. :)
