<wip><mashup>Winter Mash Up

In keeping with the current time of year, I thought I'd post a little mashup I've been working on.

*IMPORTANT* I take no credit for either of the two tracks that this mashup is comprised of.

I was thinking of the lyrics to Winter Wrap Up a while ago and couldn't help hearing D. Kay & Epsilon - Barcelona (Original Mix) as the backing track, and I realised that the chord sequences of both songs fit together pretty well. It gives WWU a completely different feel as it changes from major to minor. A bit of formant shifting was required on the vocals as the two songs are almost an augmented 4th apart (don't you just hate it when that happens -_-), and Melodyne only managed it on the clean vocals - you can here the instrumental chorus still sounds pitched, but I think it adds interest to the track.

This is also very much a WiP, I thought it would be good to get some feedback on production quality, ideas etc. before I continue. This is the main reason I'm posting it, hopefully I'll release a V.2 based on the feedback I get here.

This is also a bit of an experiment with SoundCloud's terms of use policy; this is essentially two pieces of copyrighted material overlayed, so we'll see what they make of it. Some advice on copyright laws of this nature would also be appreciated as it seems to be a pretty controversial area.

I always encourage well done mashups. That vocal speed up is a little bizarre but its also fun to hear chipmunking in a brony track. Overall this is ok but the speed-up vocals are just a little too strange overall. I've done a few mashups / unauthed samples on a few tracks on soundcloud w/o issues so you should be ok if its free music. I'm still amazed the Beatle Bronies got away with sampling the beatles on bandcamp tbh!!

Yeah I'm quite surprised they managed to get away with that, I guess a little mash up on soundcloud should be fine then.

Was it only the chipmunkiness of the chorus you found bizarre, or was it the speed of the verse vocals too? The verses shouldn't sound chipmunked because I managed to shift the formants to make them sound normal, I couldn't do the same for the chorus because of the instrumentals in the background.

I guess I kind of agree about the pace, it does make the vocals seem kind of rushed. But that's DnB for you, it is kind of fast
