Opinions and feedback REALLY NEEDED HERE!!!

I've never done anything remotely with a beat before...so this is all very new to me! Hence the through composed form...
So, I want everyone to spit all their venom at this and help me get it good! If there's no venom, then also tell me! Once It's done properly, I'll stick it on youtube...

Anyway, HELP ME! :P

Thanks a huge amount in advance!

Edit: Here's the finished youtube one!

Well, my opinion is a completely unprofessional one, so take it as you will.

* The beginning is a bit slow, but the beat kicks in around 40 seconds in is amazing.
* The vocals kinda throw me off, they sound really distorted and I think they'd sound better less processed, but maybe that's just me.
* The progression from about 1:09 to 1:25 is a bit too much to handle; everything going on sounds great on its own but there's just so much of it.
* When everything tapers off at 2:35, I'd say that's my where the mix sounds best.
* Those cowbell-sounding things 3 and a half minutes in? Boss. My favorite part I'd have to say.
* Smooth ending, it gives a good feel of contrast from the beginning and paints a rather vivid image evidencing the story's development.

All in all, the sound is very heavy (for lack of a better word), maybe too heavy for me to handle at parts, but the composition as a whole is pleasing nonetheless.

try adding mda RePsycho and a subtle bitcrusher to the vocals, I am right now testing combinations to give it that psycho feel.

I really like the ending, only problem is that the vocals are a little hard to hear. I kind of would have liked to hear it repeat, "Your World was in Despair" or "Driven Insane".

Unprofessional, but extremely useful! Thanks!

I have no idea what that means...:P I tend to play about with my own settings and effects to get what I want...and they're all named differently to what other people call them!

So I've basically toned down some of the harmonies in places where they were very dense, made a delay effect on the 'insane' at the end and then have it come back in reverse, but quietly...then cut it off with some static. I also raised the volume of that sample a bit. I was kind of going for a 'you can't hear it because of the rain,' but I think, now that I've tried it, that it'll work better if people can hear it.

Oh and also removed some of the distortion on some of the vocals (not all) and shaved some of the beginning off.

Thanks a bunch you two!

lol sorry for not explaining. Bitcrushers degrade the sound, and mda RePsycho is an effect plugin, I used it primarily to adjust the fine pitch down about -3 or -5 cents. I am sure whatever effects you use will be awesome! Hope my advice helped!

I was getting the feeling that the listener just entered the classroom to finding a bunch of creepy drawings and notes on the chalkboard and that a record was stuck repeating.

wow pretty crazy stuff. you grabbed at the insanity only hinted on in the original lyrics. definitely quite atmospheric in a dark way. :)
