<WIP><Pony><Original> Another Day in Ponyville

Postby LeafRunner » 31 Jan 2012 23:00

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't been around much lately, life is absolutely crazy busy working a full time job now and attending animation school in the afternoons/weekends. Even so, I still had a little bit of downtime yesterday to write/record this.

Forgive the same drum loop played over and over, I haven't programmed it out yet. The song is meant to be a slice of life about Ponyville. Title is an obvious play on "Another Day in Paradise", but doesn't much sound anything like it. I'm probably going to add lyrics to this (have a few in mind already, but haven't written them out yet), but I'm still pretty unhappy with how I sing, even though people tell me I can. First time really playing bass guitar seriously with this, so I hope I'm doing an okay job with it. I really want to finish this, but it'll be awhile before I get back to it :(

And thanks again Pickslide for reminding me to use a noise gate, recordings seem to be coming out pretty clean using that for sure.

I really like it. I can't wait to hear what lyrics you put to it.

The lead riff in the what I believe to be verse is really catchy. Blusey, even. The bass seems a little loud, but it may just be my headphones. They tend to have a big bass response. Other than that, it's awesome.

P.S. Dig the solos

Yeah the drumbeat is pretty cliche but the guitars are great. There's a few people on here who can sing if you look for help. Or feel free to add show vocal samples if you don't go the lyrical route.

Thanks :) yeah, bass is definitely a little loud in parts, some mixing will need to be done for sure, as well as drums. Most of the solos were improvised on the fly, originally I wasn't going to have them but I just recorded me goofing around with them and loved the results.

And I want to try my hoof at singing. It's something I've been wanting to improve on for a long time, I just had the wrong mentality of not practicing it like another instrument (I've learned several instruments, but it just takes practice). I just need to take my changed view on my guitar playing and compare my singing ability only to myself.
