Put some of the oscillators I've been building to good use. Need better ones though.
I know this isn't dedicated dubstep, but I'd love any tips on sounding better!

First thing I am going to say is that in order to embed a youtube vid you need to get rid of the '&' and everything past it in the url.

Like this:
Code: Select all

As for the song I recommend dropping the wubs down an octave or two because they are really high pitched. Also you should try adding some backing melodies. You should eq the instruments and possibly add a compressor to the vocals because they are hard to hear.
Also I hear some music in the vocals, you should look at this thread here

Thanks! I really appreciate the mastering tips, and this voices resource is great! I've just been editing episode samples with audacity. This is going to make that much easier.

you've already gotten some good advice so that should help on any follow-ups or if you wanna work on this some more. a bass synth and melody is really needed as he said.

just keep in mind that while that link he gave you is an amazing resource that the downloads for those episodes are generally about 2 weeks behind due to a bit of a delay in getting those vocal samples processed (not me but whoever does this is a saint).

i think you've got some of the foundations for an eventual good track, work on those recommendations and you'll see a noticeable improvement with your results.

Thanks Dj. I might return to this song someday, but for now I'm going to take these pointers and move on to some new songs. I'm glad you think there's potential in me, at least I can be confident I'm not running around being terrible at music. I'll definitely work on improving!
