haha wow the attention to proper music theory is superb on this track! the only major issue i can think of rn is that i'm not quite sure what it's setting out to be, the bossa vibe is somewhat vague, and it sounds more like some 160+bpm edm..the wobbly bass thing can be a bit overwhelming at certain parts too, but the musical ideas here are really really sound, great job

right now i'm working on releasing a free EP of mostly covers with a very good friend of mine, here's the lead single (cover of a song by Foxing)

should be out today if everything renders properly!!

Humbly submitted for your criticism.

It's a very, very early take on this, very little attention has been paid to anything outside of the chord progression (yes, I'm aware of the missing drums a few patterns in...we did say it's an early take, did we not?)

EDIT: updated the Soundcloud embed.

Also, the thought occurs to me that, were she human, Twi would probably be an underpaid grad student with a purple Honda Civic with a Cal bumper sticker on it, and maybe an In-N-Out or Santa Cruz Mystery Spot decal somewhere...

Lol, me gusta, the snare is very loud, just bring it down a little, that high pitched noise (I dunno what it is) also needs to be brought down some, and that's about all I can say about it.

I made a little more progress on it, so I updated the embed above..

snare...that high pitched noise

Volumes reduced, hopefully that helps. The piano and crash cymbal are still a little weird, I think, and I need to sort out how the song actually ends...

In due time, I'm sure; Rome wasn't burned in a day...

Working on this beauty. It's all unmixed except the kick as it was clipping badly due to there being 2 (kick in Kick out). Everything is acoustic/analog except for the drum machine. And the bass is a fretless that's got some wacky processing on it (not a synth pedal)

also here's the Lap Steel part on it's own.

Finished my 5th album. Released the second Maressey album. Taking a break now and seeing what the future holds. Kicking around an experimental album, a vaporwave remix project, and partially have the parts for a ponified covers and fimifction album if i want to complete them. Might just enjoy a break tho.

I got a bit inspired and decided to start writing a drinking song. It's turning out to be one of the longer lyrical works I've done, two verses down so far. It's about Luna, who reminisses about the good ol' days, before she was banished. I might as well share some of it, so first verse and refrain is in the spoiler!

Warning: Contains alcoholic references (duh, it's a drinking song)
Spoiler Drinking:
Back in anchient times when our lord Discord was ruleing,
Getting smashed was easy, just jump in-to the pool and
take a deep, deep gulp and feel the Vodka burning down your throat
It was a wonder every time I saw warning lables
"Water may be alcoholic" signes in the stables
Not so much for what so much for what it said, but for - the fact that I could see

Those where the glory days
of shots, beer, and simpler ways
I wish that I could go back and relive - those nights I don't recall
My booze-marinated liver
tries, but can not deliver.
a Thousand years of drinking takes its toll - even if you are tall

And if you wanna hear the melody, here's a crap version of the "original" drinking song, cause for some reason it's hard to find professionally recorded drinking songs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnugU1EJz7w
The real original is an old Swedish folk song, called Gärdebylåten. There's a lot of good versions of that if you wanna listen to quality music, but I'm not gonna link :I

I did something just now which I haven't done in ages!!! like... MONTHS!!! I opened up FL studio and in about 2 hours made a loop thingy! You probably thought I do that all the time... I used to, but I don't anymore :/
https://soundcloud.com/flaofei/murder-bassline

I didn't stop musicing tho. I've just moved more to the performance side of music. Being a drummer in a jazz orchestra, and now learning the ukulele :) Also working a bit on singing. I'm not being all serious and taking lessons and stuff, don't realy have time for that.

And also writing drinking songs :P I'm slowly working my towards an album/compilation/singalong/songbook/repertoar. Anyone wanna pick up "drinking song writing" as a hobby and help me out?

And since why not, have some lyrics!
Spoiler Moonshine:
A song about moonshine
Härjarevisan - it's kinda messed up with how many verses and refrains and all that... but meh. I haven't fixed music yet.

(Verse1)
Back in anchient times when our lord Discord was ruleing,
Getting smashed was easy, just jump in-to the pool and
take a deep, deep gulp and feel the Vodka burning down your throat
It was a wonder every time I saw warning lables
"Water may be alcoholic" signes in the stables
Not so much for what so much for what it said, but for - the fact that it could speak!

(Ref)
Those where the glory days
of shots, beer, and simpler ways
I wish that I could go back and relive - those nights I don't recall
My booze-marinated liver
tries, but can not deliver.
a Thousand years of drinking takes its toll - even if you are tall

(Verse2)
Sadly times where changeing, Discord had to be banished
Earth ponies where to drunk to farm. National famish.
On the brink of starvation me and - my sister took control
As ponies sobered up and started working again
They didn't like sobriety, but so what? Since when
did anypony say Princesses where nice - to stallion mare and foal

(Ref)
Those where the glory days
of tyranic simpler ways
I wish that I could go back to relive - those nights I don't recal
My booze marinated liver
tries, but can not deliver
a Thousand years of drinking takes its toll - even on imortalls

(Verse3)
The pesants wheren't the only ones who had to restrain their
alcohol consumption. Our suplie had been mamed when
chaotic production lines abruptly where driven to a halt
In a sober mess I realized magic of mine could
help the situation by making the moon-shine! The night
shall last forever, and the moon - will shine upon us all!

(Verse4)
My sister wasn't happy for some reason or two
She told me I should take my booze and go to the moon! Her
absolitist society had no room for a drunken foal!
Perhaps she was'nt serious bout leaving the planet
But I did it straight away! Return? Didn't plan it!
Not untill I was stuck up there I realised - it was scary to come down!

(Ref)
Those where the lonley years
I drank to supress my tears
I wish that I could go back to my life - before I fucked it up!
My friends are so far away
they're probably dead today
And now I'm stuck here waiting for the stars - to aid in my escape.

I wanna add another verse. Where Luna comes back to Equestria, and says sorry and all that, but with a little twist on the end and a refrain that tells us about what's gonna happen now, as she creates the next generation of party horses

At last I'm actually working on something. Best thing to force yourself to get things done is to give yourself deadlines based on anniversaries. I've tasked myself to complete three pieces of music until the end of the year, two of which are based on something from 40 years ago, the third one even dates back 50 years.

Remember the "test run" I've announced a while ago? I'm finally working on that (instrumental and only remotely pony) piece. It's due tomorrow, and I'm only done something like 70–80%. I think I'm in for a long night today. That one looks like it'll be the most complicated one of the three, but the other two shall have vocals. Well, at least the lyrics are complete (as is most of the music because they'll both be parodies).
Old brony, older than old school.
Gear list, Jabber ID: see my profile.
No FL Studio, no VSTs. No Skype, no YouTube.

Sounds fly through the night, I follow Vın̈yl Scratch to Pony Wonderland.
