Rarity, Graceful Style!

So, here's my entry into Sci's competition, found here...

This specific competition was to write a battle theme for a pony of some kind, so I chose Rarity. I felt I could work with her 'poshness' better than others, being a classical musician and all...
I think it turned out pretty good! Theory-wise, the chord progressions are standard...oh, except there are French 6ths everywhere! Why the French versions? Well, it's Rarity! She oozes style!
Also, I kind of ignored the rules for writing for timpani...
I imagine there could be more stuff to work on this, but I think it sounds fine as is and I have lots of other things to work on!

So enjoy!

ALSO, the site is currently 'down for maintenance', so don't let me forget to actually submit it!!!

Between this and that Octavia battle theme, I think I stand a pretty good chance of being absolutely crushed in this competition. In fact, if it were more serious and not just for fun, I might not even bother submitting mine.

You did a really good job of nailing the elegance of Rarity's character while still making a violent, fast-paced theme. I was torn between doing a Rarity one and... Well, one for a different character. I'm glad I chose the latter, because this would have overshadowed it pretty thoroughly. Well-done as always!

The harpsichord is totally Rarity's instrument. Sounds excellent!

You are blowing my mind.

I am pretty sure that is the first time I have ever said that on this site, and I definitely mean it.

edit:
I ask for sheets, but if it is too much trouble, I can actually hear what is going on even though some parts are pretty fast. I really only want the sheets so that I may have more in my collection, but it would be nice to have them. :]

Awesome! The beginning reminds me of some of Moi Dix Moix's compositions. I'm also curious, what do you mean when you say "rules of writing for timpani"?
Also, is that a full fuge w/ the intro Harpsichord? I'm a big BIG fan of baroque era music and Bach's work so I'm really interested.

Thanks! And sure, but I have other stuff to do today, so you'll see it later!

Timpani tend to be in sets of 3 or 4 if not part of a massive orchestra, where they're around the 6 or 7 of them!
That means there are 3 or 4 notes you can use at any given time and they're around a third/fourth/fifth apart. If you want other notes, you've gotta give the timpanist time to retune! Which I kind of didn't do...:P

And, nope, there's nothing fugue-like in or around the harpsichord at the start!
