Terrible composition. Sorry about that. I don't like being a tough critic, but I guess you wanted opinions.

Indeed I do want opinions, and I don't mind tough criticism, but how exactly is the composition terrible? Like, what about it is terrible?

It just isn't catchy. It sounds like random notes to me.

I'm gonna be honest, I have no idea what you're talking about. It's a perfectly average melody/bassline, I don't see why it wouldn't be catchy. Maybe it's because I've listened to it so damn much :)

But whatever, I suppose you just don't like it. That makes you the first (of the admittedly fairly small number of people I've showed it to), which is good in a weird way, basically affirms that I've still got a lot to learn, and also that you can't please everyone.

Now if only I could get some feedback on my IDM remix. It sounds good to me, so there must be something wrong. I don't think I'm capable o making a decent song yet.
Is it really as good as I think it is, or am I just tripping.

This song... is weird. In a good, quirky way. I literally know nothing about IDM, so sorry if my feedback is useless/seems to be directed at other forms of EDM. The patterns are quite interesting, there seems to be a bit of clipping somewhere around 1:50. Other than that it's sounding pretty nice so far. I'd advise making sure to avoid clipping and such in the future. Also, you may want to use a different synth for the backing part (the part that's from the original song). I realize you don't have a midi, but try to put down the notes by ear, even if it takes awhile it will be worth it. Try to focus on each sound and get the notes down. If you have the tempo it shouldn't take an unreasonable amount of time.

Remember, change something every 8 bars, as a rule. You can certainly change stuff more often, but never extend a segment past 8 bars without any change.

Thanks for the feedback. Variation is something I have trouble with a lot, so I really appreciate that 8 bars rule. About the synths, my computer broke so I was just running everything from a flash drive on a separate computer. The only synths that worked with only the .dll and the installation folder were z3ta and FM8, so I was kind of fucked there, since I barely know either of them.
The name Drillkicker comes from the form of IDM this is, called drill n bass.

I'm not really.....working on anything at the moment. I'm finally happy with how the instrumentation on my next track sounds, and I'm waiting for the right moment to get a decent Shure microphone so that I can record my vocals to finish it off. But, I don't have any new ideas. I prefer only to put them down in a stem if I actually remember the ideas for a while, otherwise there is no point in turning it into a fully fledged song. Its my quality control.

Interesting... quite different from everything else of yours I've heard, but it sounds like it's going pretty well, I can't think of anything to criticize :3

I'm working on my most complicated (at least for me) project. Its pony, AND its original. Yeah, I'm actually doing something other than a remix. Although I'll be needing feedback on this and hopefully a suggestion as to what to name it. I'll post it once I've at least finished the guitar lead but so far its sounding pretty good imo.

A multi-genre track: Ambient>Rock>Trance. Who'd thought those would go so well together lol

I'm working on some of the same things I've been working on since I got any sort of software for it, except now I actually have some more variety in the synths, instruments, samples, and effects I'll be using thanks to the getting started guide.
I'm also working on learning more about music theory and synthesis. So there's always that.

Nice, warm vocal synths singing over a trippy, dark beat. It has interesting juxtaposition, though I do say so myself.

Feedback please? It's pretty bad. Mostly I just need to keep it going. I have my stuff ready, just make it longer. Agree?
