Ovation of the Night WIP

Postby Tsyolin » 11 Nov 2011 00:23

Well, I'm writing music now. Who would have thought that my piece would be so... dark? Anyways, take a listen, please let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

So, I kept hearing clipping in the first section, mainly in the strings...might want to take a look at that...

My main thoughts are the following:
Good:
Soundworld twas interesting!
Sound design, besides the clipping was good!

To improve:
Harmony was fairly mundane, look at making the harmony interesting, instead of the same chord progression over and over...
Counterpoint...orchestral writers these days seem to have forgotten a thing called counterpoint! There wasn't really much counterpoint at all in this, which is a shame, as it would make it far more interesting!

There you go!

Bringing up Counterpoint is an excellent point, I was thinking of ways to expand the harpsichord in such a way, and I definitely will implement that technique. As far as the progression, yeah I see what you mean. Thanks for the advice.

Harpsichords and organs are the best thing in the world (and the organ plays my progression). Harpsichord section is good but the organ is a little loud.

Before I release any tracks, I always listen to them on my iPod... I agree with you completely. Already fixed that.

Sounds like you have a great style going on! I love the beat with the instruments you have, this is solid and bold stuff, man. I do think the strings in the intro sound a bit off because the notes don't blend. You have LASS, I'd suggest give that a shot so you have some legato and they sound more natural.
