<pony><orchestral-ish><Finished> Fluttering garden

Postby Hangin' From A Cloud » 28 Aug 2012 14:07

So I'm working on an orchestral-ish Fluttershy track.
What do you think? Should I add vocals to it (probably from Find a pet)? Or more instruments? Or more variety? Or asdfghjklé...
Oh and any tips on how could I make the piano solo-thing more emotive?

Finished it!

I think vocals would kill it. But I think you should around the second minute, or so, to slowly build up, hold on the tension with the thing that comes at 2:46 or so. and around 2:48 go BOOM with the same melody you have going there (if that makes a molecule of sense). Maybe add some brass or something, I don't know. Make it become alive. It's a nice song all in all, though.

This was pretty cool! As Djeinus said, Brass would make it excellent, consider adding them and his other point about tension building is great too.
I loved the flute part, really really flute-y! Excellent use of it there.
Not so much the string part, they were very block chord/held notes, which I always discourage...mix them up a bit!

This is a great instrumental piece and I'm not sure if vocals would suit it that well?
I agree with the others about including brass. I'm no expert but maybe brass could come in at around the 3:08 mark (When the drums and main melody return) in some form or another.
I love the flute, sounds almost Celtic :D

Thanks for the awesome feedback guys! I was grinning like an idiot when I read the posts :D (idk why). There is actually a tuba playing there, but I will definitely add more brass. And do something with the strings too.
