<pony><remix>Yet another Beyond Her Garden remix

This song is remixed almost as much as Rainbow Factory.

This is also my first song with decent vocals. Yay.

not sure how to explain it but you know how tomb has the bass thing going and wooden toaster has the cool vocals? those are some of their song characteristics they are what makes them stand out.

Thanks, and I see what you mean. Tbh I wanted to make this a dubstep remix, but I actually made this because my friend wanted to see if I could make a decent quality remix in under an hour. Oh well, it's not like I can't just remix it again ;)

You did this in under an hour? I'd say you did pretty good for that time constraint. I see some character in the chiptuney bits, and I like the orchestral intro, so you're pretty well on your way to having a great remix. My advice would be to get a lot more experience remixing, and general music making, and revisit songs like this and Rainbow Factory later. That's not to say you're a newbie or anything, but those songs have been remixed so many times that it would be tough to make yours stand out. Once you have a particular style developed and a lot more experience, you would be able to make something that stands out a lot more. That's kind of the mentality i've got for myself, I want to develop my skills in music and remixing and refine my style so that when I do make a remix of one of those songs, it'll be something really cool that I can be proud of. At the same time, I don't blame you for choosing this one to remix, it's a great song, and I feel like at this point Beyond Her Garden and Rainbow Factory are almost obligatory remixes because everyone's done them.

And now i'm rambling. tl;dr it's a good remix, revisit it when you've got more experience so you can make it outstanding.
My goal is to be capable of making any kind of music that strikes my fancy, and do it well.

What is it, exactly, about Beyond Her Garden that is just so damn remix-able? I mean I'm not complaining (I've done one too, even), but like is that song enchanted or something? What black magic are you using, Glaze?!

Anyway, I think I can see what the others are saying about the "lack of character". I think that might mainly have to do with the chorus sounding very similar to the original? 'Cause you've got your own thing going on with the strings in the beginning, then the chiptune, the slower more chill sort of vibe... but then the chorus sounds pretty much like the original. While I certainly don't have any problems with this style of remix, I think that may be why the song might feel like it doesn't quite have its own identity, seeing as how the chorus tends to be the part of the song everyone remembers.

Not that I have any idea how to be a good music-er or anything, but them's just my take on it. I do like the song, though, especially the chippy outro. And the fact that this was made in such a short amount of time boggles my mind.

Thanks for the input guys! It's really nice to see people caring enough to leave replies that are actually helpful :)

I'll take you guys' advice and revisit this when I have more experience and have developed my own style. I'm starting to think that'll be kind of like a genre blending style, but I truly have no idea what my music will end up being.

Also, I suppose I should wait to do Nightmare Night then :D

Genre blending is always cool, but I'm sure whatever style you end up with will be pretty awesome.

And personally, I wouldn't necessarily hold off on doing a Nightmare Night remix; not if that's what ya happen to feel like doing... Besides, what better way to improve than being all "okay, that didn't really work last time, I'll keep that in mind and try again" right? It's not like you can't redo it all again at a later point in time if you don't like how it turns out.

That's just me, though. Whatever you decide to do, and in whatever style that may be, I wish you the best of luck!

You did this in an hour? Son, I am impress.

My only complaint is that it sounds a little too close to the original. Generally, a remix happens when an artist wants to add his own spin to a song, and this feels kind of like an instrument swap. That half-time outro was really cool though.

This i'm not quite sure about, only because Nightmare Night, to my knowledge, was not quite as remixed as Beyond Her Garden or Rainbow Factory. But it's all up to you! :D

And I look forward to your genre-blended style!
