<pony><remix>Trip Hop, Skip and a Jump

It's a trip hop remix of Hop skip and a jump that I made. I think it turned out quite good.
Opinions?

Sounds very interesting!
What effect did you use on vocal samples?

I like it!

My first reaction, though, is that it sounds kinda dry, with respect to reverb. Like the bass--I know people tend to avoid putting 'verb on bass, but I think it could use a tiny, subtle bit to place it better. Also, the offbeat percussive sine-esque synth really stands out to me without any reverb.

The kick and snare are probably fine as they are: more reverb would sorta swamp them. The high hats sound a little dry sometimes, depending on the section.

The strings could really use some 'verb. (Or some more, if they have any on them now.)

I think it's structured well--I like the occasional glitchy repetitions. Though the part around 1:00 where everything drops out except the vocals sounds kinda out of place to me. Something else to prepare us for that moment would really help; maybe either adding a drum fill or simply removing the drums in the measure immediately before it. Or maybe an automated low or high pass filter sweep on the entire mix would do the trick.

Nice work on the vocal "scratches". :) Overall, I feel that the instruments and sounds you chose fit well together.

It's pitch shifted in melodyne to octaves above and below, then all played at once with each track panned differently, and I also added formant to parts of it.

I was a bit conservative with reverb because I've overdone it in the past a lot, but I guess that a bit more would work in this. If I make anything similar to this again, I'll consider adding more reverb to everything.

That makes sense. Yeah, you definitely don't want to over do it; but I think adding reverb very subtly is the key for that kind of thing.
