<pony><original> Twilight's experiment

Postby Bendelsohn » 17 Aug 2012 00:32

So after doing absolutely nothing for several months, I finally got something done. This is a song I wrote in a couple days. It was originally going to be just "Growing mind", but it turned into something too jazzy to be about learning, so I decided to make it about an experiment that Twilight preformed. So, here it is. Criticism is much appreciated.

Tip: Use velocity controls on your piano (I'm assuming you used a VST). Parts like 0:52 are absolutely overloaded with piano, so either balance it better, or use velocity to even things out. For instance, the bass chords could be a bit softer in the aforementioned area, so as to let the other notes stand out better.

A real pianist doesn't pound on every single key, yet instead uses how hard/soft he presses each key to help carry certain moods/show movement/accentuate certain notes/etc... So, do the same in your DAW.

The piano, composition wise, is great though. It just needs to be mixed better.
DAW: FL 10 | Main VSTs: Zebra2, Massive, Nexus | Genres: Progressive House & Electro House

I read "jazzy".... but there was no jazzy ;_;
Else good composition, as my pre-poster said pianos are played more dynamicaly. If you happen to have a midi keyboard and the ability to play it, or a DAW with humaizing feature for midis: apply :)
