<wip><non-pony> Want opinions on mixing before I continue.

So, I started this song a few months back, and I was looking for overall opinions about the track. In particular, I'm curious what people think of the mix. I jumped ship on a handful of art sharing websites a few years back, so I haven't had ANY outside input on any of my music since.

SO! What say you about the mix? Good or bad? Muddy or nice and clean?

What about the overall song? Is it something worth completing? This IS just bare bones, I need to create leads and stuff, but what do you suggest be done? My ears are just so tired of this song, I can't tell if it's going right or not, so any and all outside input would be splendid. The little drum fill, by the way, I'm thinking could be brought down in volume a tad.

PS:Feel free to dig around my soundcloud if you want. Although it's not the main subject, any thoughts on my other tunes is welcome. Like I said, it's been years since I had proper feedback on anything.

I really couldn't find a whole lot wrong with it, besides the length of course! (I know it's a WIP).

I enjoyed it. The kick was driving with the clap giving a nice accent, and the bass-y synth was delicious with the sidechaining. In my opinion it wasn't too muddy, even when the other instruments were brought in.

I'd say just continue as you're doing. I don't know if you have an intro, or you're just planning to start from where you began in the WIP, but a little lead-in would be nice.

I know what you're saying about your ears being fried and not knowing if it's good or not. Perhaps take a day off? That usually helps me.

Ah, lead ins/intros, I'm terrible with those. I would prefer one of course, so I'll take your advice and figure one out. Thanks for the feedback. It's always nice to have a fresh set of ears to tell me if it's going okay or down hill. Girlfriends, brothers and mothers seem to feel obligated to say something is great when if fact it's not.

Your bass is mudded out right now and that kick could stand to jump out a bit more, but the overall drumkit is solid. Killer sidechaining on the strings and those are sitting well. When the hard mid synth comes in, it's fighting with the bass a little on the low end so you'll have to decide what you want to drive the track more. I like what's going on, though. The little plucks in the background should stay but get some variation when the new synth is introduced.

Totally worth looking into. I forgot, along with the fatigue I mixed this song on an entirely new set of speakers with a monstrous, probably not for mixing, sub-woofer so that all kind of threw me for a bit of a loop.

Thanks, both of you, for the feedback. Most appreciated.
