I'm totally new to making music and everything, but I figured I would try my hand at making a dubstep song. I had no idea how to go about doing so, as I don't listen to much dubstep outside of what bronies are making. However, I looked up some guidelines, and I think I have a solid beat down, at least for the drums. All it is right now is the drums, as I have yet to figure out how to add the synth and bass (which I wouldn't mind advice on as well). I just want to make sure i'm on the right track as far as the beat and i'm not doing anything horribly wrong, and I would love any feedback you all can give me.

Erm, what are you using, DAW-wise? Is it FL, because these don't sound like the default drums for that, but more like the default drums for something else. Anyway, my point is don't use the default drums. Go find some samples and layer them. Also, for dubstep, remember that it's kick-snare, not kick-tom. Also, go listen to dubstep made by non-bronies, (Suggested artists: Nero, Bassnectar, anyone on the UK Bass Culture album). To make the synth, you can use 3xosc (it's in most DAWs) or buy a different synth. Since I don't know what you're using, I can't really say much about what you can do. So yeah, whatcha usin'?

I'll definitely check those out! I've got ACID 8, and the drums I was using were from some free VSTs that I think I found from one of the threads in here. Where can I get some good drum samples?

I agree with vladnuke. There are plenty of free sample packs on the internet if you look hard enough.
Personally I'm not good with dubstep at all, but if you'd like advice, I'd suggest watching the 7 day dubstep tutorial by boyinaband on YouTube. He uses Reason, but he explains why he does everything, in a way that makes it fairly easy to follow regardless of your DAW. He also has plenty of free sample packs on his website.
Good luck. :D

I got some of those samples and made a new one, so if it's better I'll go off and work on the rest of the song.

Wow, your second drum track vastly improved from the first.
Keep up the good work :D
