<nonpony> <remix> Angus And Julia Stone-Big Jet Plane Remix

What's good bronies?! Now I know that mylittleremix should be bent toward more pony related songs (hah my bad), but there are a LOT of talented producers in this awesome fandom, so I'd love for some feedback, exposure, and critiques. I shall make another pony song real soon, as I'm in withdrawal from the finale :) Tis my second song, so don't go easy on me, tell me what I need to improve :) I made this on the DAW Garageband, and this shall be my last on it. I am moving to Logic Pro, for more professional sounding gear. Thanks everybody :D

Vocals are too silent and drums could be snappier. Is that a wub in the end? That's way too silent as well :/ You should learn the secrets of compressor, cause that will make your life easy. If you fix those this would be a nice tune.
Holy fuck, it's been such a long time! Thanks all 'yall everyponies! If you're a familiar username on a nostalgia trip, I sincerely hope life's been treating you well. I've certainly had quite a journey! The ride never ends! <3

Thanks for the advice man! See I will no longer be using this DAW, but when you say "drums be snappier"... do you mean like louder or like Eq it to a higher frequency? Just for future reference :) and haha yes tis a wub, but I didn't want it to be a dubstep or electro, more calm house, but thank you I see what ya mean! And I currently am haha, watchin some vids on it, thanks for the feedback brony :D

Like you know, louder. Especially if you want to go for house, you'll need a rather loud kick. Compression helps that and when we're talking about house stuff side-chain compression is not uncommon either. (Lowering volume of e.g. pads during the kick.)

I think you did a great job putting this mix together. The bass, the drums, the vocals, and the piano and the 8-bit synths, and the strings, I love it all!

But like MikeGallop said, whats preventing this song from really shining is the mixing. I think the bass could use a little compression and cut just a little high end to make it more tight and rhythmic, then compress those drums and EQ up the snares to make it punchier. I think this will bring up the overall rhythmic and dynamic qualities of the track. Then do some mastering to make it superb.

Also, I think the pad at 1:30 is good, but I think it takes away from the dynamics of the song, maybe side chain it with the kicks or something.

I took the liberty of doing a little mastering, I wanted to see what I can do with this using a demo of Ozone. I just Eq'ed the bass up, Eq'ed the middle down just a little, then boosted the Eq in the presence of the snares, then did a some overall multiband compression with emphasis on tightening the bass and making the track brighter. Don't know what tools Pro Logic comes with, but if it has a Equalizer, maybe Parametric Equalizer, and a Multiband compressor, and limiter, you can achieve the same results, but mixing the individual channels before mastering will get you better results.

@MikeGallop Ahh ok ok I see what you mean, mos def the kick does seem quiet to other house songs, and whew I've got a LOT to learn, but thanks :) So THATS what sidechaining is, damn thanks for the help man

@GhostXb Thanks man! And yeah I agree, that's partly why I'm moving away from this DAW (Garageband) and upgrading to Logic Pro, everything sounds better. so I can "mix" in only Garageband, but I can move it to Logic so I can "master" right? Haha sorry if I'm a retard at this XD I'll try to learn and perform these things you're telling me, I can tell you REALLY know what you're sayin, especially with that master comparison, it sounds so sweet man :D Thanks again for the feedback and advice!

Yeah, I'd say go for a different DAW. GarageBand is a bit limited.

@vladnuke Haha right? I'm upgrading to Logic Pro, although it's a bit more complicated, it will DEFINITELY pay off. Thanks for replying :D
