<WIP><Original> Chocolate

Postby DannyMirage » 19 May 2012 01:50

I think I'm gonna stick with this weird style of mine. (Yes, I named it Chocolate.)
There's more that's going to be added, but the bulk of this song is done.

Give me feedback if you have it!

First of all I like the part starting at about 2:04. It provides a nice contrast to the rest of the song and makes it more interesting to listen to the whole thing (especially when the song comes back in strong around 2:59). Overall I ended up liking it more than I expected I would based on the beginning xD.

It's mostly that your bass is really harsh sounding. It does sound pretty cool, unfortunately I don't know how to go about getting that balance between a really cool, gritty sounding bass and something that doesn't hurt your ears.

There is also one harmony in your progression that works sometimes and other times sounds really unnerving. It is when the bass is on a D#. I realize that it is dissonant, but I think it could benefit at some parts if it had a B in the chord somewhere. Listening to it more it is less unnerving, but that is what I was thinking initially. :P

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you liked it more than you though you would!

For the bass, I had Quartus Saul in my mind, twas the sound I was attempting, it does sound pretty harsh. I tried EQing the high sound out, but strangely the high noise is coming from the low register. Maybe it's because of the plugin, it was made for Chiptunes, it might not be made for such a low register.

I do agree that the melody is weird sounding, I don't know how it sounds unnerving though, I'll try to listen a little closer to it.

I wasn't talking about the melody specifically, just the way all of the harmonies fit together.
