<Pony><Original> Mandatoroy Affection (Need feedback)

Ok this is my submission for Balloon Party. Or it will be if it doesn't get shot down.

I'v worked really hard on this and I'm hoping that whatever problems it has are fixable before the deadline.

First: I didn't notice the thing in the FAQ saying "Don't use the Modern Talking waveform. Don't be lazy." I don't know how, but I missed it. In fact, I wasn't even aware that Modern Talking was a lazy way to make music. I just figured it out on my own and I liked it. So there. If thats enough to disqualify my song, i don't know what else to say.

Second: This isn't even mastered yet. If there are things that need to be lowered/raised (yes some things are obvious) please tell me. No matter how obvious it may be. Some things will be added or taken away as well. Please tell me what you think needs to be fixed.

Alrighty. Couple things.
-Modern Talking isn't necessarily a lazy way of making music, but you have to use it right. If you don't, it sounds...well, really sloppy and unprofessional. Unfortunately, this ain't the right way to use it. I would definitely add some more basses, and don't rely so heavily on that one.
-The intro is really good, but the part at 0:42 should probably be used before the drop. Ditching the drums is a good buildup to the kick roll that usually precedes the drop, and when you pick up the drums again, it sounds sort of awkward.
-I don't really know much about mixing/mastering/whatever, so I can't help you there. Sorry.
Overall, it sounds pretty good. Needs work, but it's a good start and with some work, I think it can sound pretty kickass. Luckily, you're good on time, deadline isn't until June so you have no need to worry.

Thanks for the feedback! The reason I used the modern talking the way I did is because I'm a fan of Big Chocolate and his song "Revelation" uses it that way. In fact, there are a lot of elements that i sort of borrowed from his style and used in this song.

Anyway, I'll definitely put your advice for more basses to work and we'll see how it sounds after that.

Modern talking is just so overused in dubstep today so when knife party made their ep they wanted no modern talking in it and since balloon party is parody of knife party the want the same thing in their album.

The mix is good, you can really feel the kick and snare come through and lead the track which is fantastic! You have some good synthesis in here, nothing is clashing with the other sounds. Just a personal thing but I think there are to many atmospheric effects (that kind the echo around the stereo image) its not a problem just personal taste. Find some other creative ways to get the 'talking' bassline without modern talking and add some more bass sounds like DJSheogowrath said then your golden for balloon party imo.

As for mastering thats something you do when every part of the track is finished, you just need to worry about mixing and eqing ect... for now, and what you have is good already, theres nothing major I could point out to you.

Getting rid of the modern talking while still maintaining the sort of 'talking' bassline is gonna be hard for me. Iv only been making dubstep for the past 3 or 4 months and even then, i haven't made much. Any tutorials or help threads you can point me to?

Thanks so much for the compliment on the kick and snare! It's been one of my biggest goals to get a kick and snare to sound just right and it seems I'v achieved that. =D

Maybe I'm using the word "mastering" incorrectly. By that I meant mixing and eqing. lol

A real easy way to get that sort of effect is to make a smooth wobble in massive, then apply a bitcrusher to it-that's what makes the "yoi" or "yah" sound. It's not as rough or strong but it can work really well. Go to about 1:10 on this if you don't know what I mean.
