First-off, What do you think of this? Is it Strange? Just Awful? Pretty decent? What/ :umm: ?

I wanted to try some more ambient style with this, but how does the sub and random pluck fit in with this? I was going to make something different, but I'm just going with the flow now, and not really forcing myself to make things particular, I had made the sub and decided to just incorporate it. Should I make it into some type of horn?

The Main parts are a little louder than I anticipated and kind of drown out each other and so it beings to just sound like noise in the middle, I think, but in the beginning and end it sounds a little clearer. What about the high pitched lead thing? It alright? Should I add more variation? Make it slower? Do nothing? Destroy it? Any answer is a good answer.

I've been particularly working with just making slow and soft sounds primarily, like the pads, high pitched noises and random sounds like the one you hear at the very beginning and throughout the entirety of this track. The beginning and end are where it is most noticeable. Tell me what you think.

So any feedback at all would be pretty awesome. Tell me if you like any of the sounds, and the ones you don't really like. This would be very useful in breaking this down so I can build a more solid foundation. And be honest!

Kyoga wrote:Initially I think the higher frequency 'lead' you have going on at the beginning of the song is really piercing and makes it kind of hard to listen to. Answering your first question I think it's a rather mellow concept, but you haven't really strapped the pieces of this together in a way that shows what you're trying to communicate. I can't imagine what kind of thing this was made for and that really makes it a lot less interesting to listen to.

That being said I have concerns regarding the sound design for this piece. Mainly my problem is how the individual instruments just sort of melt together when you're going for transitions. There's a lot of reverb and because of this the stereo field is just kind of 'full' of these individual sounds. it makes it very hard to discern between one instrument and another, but when you change chords or move to a new section of the song, there are still tails of the old chords left over. you get lots of conflicting harmonics and that turns into heavy dissonance. =/

I have to agree with everything you said about this, and I pretty much scraped the idea about a week ago so i can't really try to defend this. The problems stated in the second paragraph were already known, to which I don't even know why I posted if they were present in the first place.

I really appreciate your input on this anyway, it means alot that someone would listen to a week old submission.

What a nice song ^-^ Great atmosphere! Now, this is kinda personal preference but a nice beat in there would be fantastic! Not having drums probably was intentional though.
