<original> HEY! I'm very very new. Any feedback or advice?

So I got this crazy idea in my head that I had to contribute to the amazing Brony Community.
This is my very first song : http://youtu.be/y8WR565EULw
And for a higher quality version (Which I super-duperly recommend) you can listen without the video here: http://picosong.com/M7h/
................
I was sent here by BronyJake, who i found out about when Alex S. linked one of his streams. After watching many Livestreams from many people, It's become my crazy little dream to make a stream of my own, with others who create, just mucking about and talking ponies.
I also play guitar (4 years now) so I'm thinking about making some acoustic Brony songs.
Anyhow I talk to much, so if you want to keep in touch with me, or just wanna be EXTRA supportive I've made myself a page at: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Epic-Eric
-Thanks, Eric

Welcome aboard!

You know, this is a very impressive first song. There's obviously things you can improve about it, such as proper EQing for all your instruments so they don't obstruct each other, adding more grit to your wubs, etc. But seriously, you're at a pretty fantastic starting point with this. I look forward to hearing more from you. c:

I actually quite enjoyed that track. Very awesome for a first effort. Reiterating what TheSunAndTheRainfall said though, your only real flaw at this point is your EQing and I may even go so far as to say just overall mastering of your track. It sounds weak, the drums don't really kick, the bass doesn't really wobble and the high's don't have any depth to'em. Frankly mastering is about my least favorite part of the process of music production but it's a necessary evil for any musician who really wants to give their tracks a professional sounding punch. Luckily there's tons of great resources and tutorials (especially on Youtube) to help learn this skill.

My only other suggestion would be adding a little more depth to your track. And not in the EQing/Mastering way, but more in that it just needs to be a little bit more complex, I noticed that about halfway through your song my interest started waning slightly, a big part of electronic music (at least in what I've found) is keeping the listeners interest, be it through builds and drops or perhaps atmospheric pads and synths or even just some filters to keep things changing in the background. With electronic music a little change goes a long way and can give your tracks a complexity that keeps people coming back for more. You've got the understanding of music down, you know what sounds good, what comes next is learning how to make a full-fledged professional sounding track. The only advice I can offer on that front specifically is just keep on practicing.

I am by no means any kind of expert on this stuff though, this is just my two cents, hopefully you find something useful in this post.

Best of luck!

Thank you so much Daks.
I'll keep on keeping on of course! And I've been randomly making myself a playlist of multiple tutorials on YouTube, and tomorrow will be my day of study.
-Thanks again, just cause, Eric

i thought this was a great try and I don't think you're too far off from a more finished track with all the great advice. My main issue would be what's your inspiration. So many tracks are made by bronies but don't really talk about what the track is about in terms of its MLP tie-in. If you can come come up some sort of a concept (be it an episode, character, etc) I feel it adds to the track and also is the sort of thing that helps discern this music from any other. You would also wanna name your track with a title that at least describes that reference.

Theres' a load of mlp episode dialogue with muted background music here which i recommend taking full advantage of. A few samples and boom you have a definite pony music track then one with a pooooosible one.

sounds good, only issue with that site is that its always about 2 episodes behind the current one (at least that's how it's been in the past).
