<Non-pony><House>Faren - Blue Light

Postby Faren » 24 Mar 2014 08:53

Hey guys! Managed to finish this one, though it took me a while. Kind of upset with the main lead introduction around 0:35 and 3:22 but didn't figure out how to do it well :/

Anyways, I'd really appreciate some feedback cuz I've been working on that for a long time and I obviously need some fresh ears :3

Thanks ^_^

Enjoying the guitar. Always nice to mix it up sometimes and add different instruments to dance tracks.

Do you mean the volume fade in on the lead? I don't really mind that, myself. It sounds fine to me. I also enjoy the vibrato thing that the lead does during the main part.

The bass at like 2:46 that comes in under the guitar feels a bit pointless. It's too quiet and too low to really be heard, so as it is I think it just clutters things a bit.

I think the chorus feels like it might lacking a bit of fullness or punch. Maybe throw in some white noise, or add some white noise to a pad or something in the backround or give the kicks more punch or add some higher frequencies to the bass to have that come in more, or maybe it's a problem of the lead up to the chorus having too many of the same elements that the chorus does or being as loud, so it's not quiet as impactful. I don't really know exactly what it is to be honest, but it's just a small thing that I noticed.

Overall though, I don't really have a lot of issues with this, and I liked some of the choices you've made with sounds and melodies. Cool stuff. Keep up the good work!

Thank you for your feedback, I really appreciate this :3

The problem with the lead is that it doesn't sound organic, like it's not expected to fade in just like that, or maybe it's just me.

As for the bass, when i added it, I noticed that it sounded kind of weak, but I just thought that it has to be in here, though I've gotten rid of it and it sounds better already.

The chorus... well, I might be adding some higher frequences, though I think that the problem is with the build-up, I guess I'll change it a bit and I bet some melody variation might be a useful thing as well.

Thank you for advices, I'll definitely keep them in mind.

Of course! Happy to give my thoughts.

Hah, I dunno if it's just you or not, but it's not me. I think at that point in the song there's enough going on that it doesn't sound weird to gradually fade in. I dunno, that sort of thing has never really bugged me when done well, and I think it's handled well here.

Cool, glad to hear we're on the same page there.

Yeah, sorry I can't be of more help on where the problem actually is for me. If I could figure out exactly what it was after just listening a few times, then my own tracks would be so much better and quicker to make I'm sure. I think the build up could definitely be a good place to start messing with, though.

My pleasure. I hope I could different perspective or be of help in any way.
